Titano Futsal Cup, first legs of the Quarter-finals kick off tomorrow
Hardly time to file away the eighth matchday of the San Marino Championship – which ended last night with Tre Penne v Cosmos – before the Titano Futsal Cup returns tomorrow with the first legs of the Quarter-finals. Making their debut are Folgore, who had a bye in the Round of 16 as holders of the trophy. Max Spada’s side are setting an impressive pace in the league with seven wins from seven matches (including the best attack and the league’s top scorer in Massimiliano Bernardi), which has them top of the group level on points with Fiorentino. The Falciano side will face Cailungo, who are currently bottom of the league with zero points but have made their mark in the Cup thanks to a major comeback in the Round of 16, which allowed the rossoverdi to eliminate Tre Penne and book their place in the quarter-finals.
The clash between Virtus and Juvenes-Dogana also promises to be very interesting. The neroverdi are the third force in the league and come into this tie on the back of three positive results in a row (most recently a 5-0 victory over Faetano), while the Serravalle side slipped up in the derby against Folgore, although they remain in the upper reaches of the table. Attention will also be on Tre Fiori v Libertas. The gialloblu from Fiorentino could take advantage of their league rest round, where they have won three of their last four games played. Libertas are also enjoying a good spell of form, having recorded their second win of the league campaign in the most recent round by beating Murata.
The last quarter-final is the meeting between Fiorentino and Pennarossa. Michelotti’s side claimed their seventh straight league win thanks to a 2-1 success over Domagnano and will be looking to keep a clean sheet in the Cup (no goals conceded over the two-legged Round of 16 tie with San Giovanni). Casadei’s men come into this game after a fine league victory over San Giovanni and will be aiming to give the rossoblu a real test.
The second legs of the Titano Futsal Cup Quarter-finals will then be played on Thursday 8 December. Here is the full schedule of fixtures:
