Titano Futsal Cup, quarter-finals: all first-leg winners go through

The second-leg fixtures of the Titano Futsal Cup quarter-finals brought nothing but confirmations. Every team that had won on 23 November did so again last night, albeit by narrower scorelines than in the first leg, with the exception of Folgore. La Fiorita, for instance, beat Juvenes-Dogana 3-1 after their initial 4-1 success. It was Bartoli who opened the scoring for Gianni Galli’s side. Mariotti and Cappelli then added their names to the scoresheet before Elia Cecchetti, goalkeeper and captain of Juvenes-Dogana, struck the consolation goal which also marked his team’s farewell to the competition. Fiorentino likewise claimed a win that was much tighter than in the opening 60 minutes of the tie. Back then it was 4-0 against Domagnano; this time it finished 4-3. For three quarters of the game the reigning champions had raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Zafferani, Ceccoli and Zafferani again. Past the midway point of the second half, Domagnano produced a furious reaction, with the Wolves wiping out the deficit in the space of just two minutes. Their three goals in quick succession came from Menghi, Lorenzo Bollini and Capone, in that order. The final word, however, belonged to Fiorentino, who sealed their passage to the next round late on through Cevoli. As mentioned, the only team to improve on their first-leg scoreline was Folgore. After the initial 5-3, Zonzini’s side recorded a 4-1 win over Libertas, with Bernardi breaking the deadlock after eight minutes. Pellegrini doubled the advantage, but before the change of ends Libertas managed to respond through Francesco Rossi. It was not enough for the Granata to put the outcome back in doubt, with the result ultimately locked in by further goals from Biordi and Chezzi. Following the 8-1 defeat in the first leg, Murata – without many of their key players – limited the damage against a Tre Fiori side that still managed to win the return fixture as well. Yesterday it ended 4-2. After Bugli’s team had gone 2-0 up – thanks to goals from Filippo Burioni and Verri – Murata pulled one back through De Cesare. Tre Fiori restored their two-goal cushion via Urbinati, only for Ghiotti to reply five minutes later. The final goal of the evening again came in yellow-and-blue colours, this time through Esposito. The semi-finals will see Fiorentino face La Fiorita and Tre Fiori take on Folgore. Here is the full picture from the second legs of the quarter-finals: Click here for the bracket
