The Under-21 National Team will begin the new European qualifying cycle only in the new year. In the meantime, confirmed head coach Cecchetti and his staff have already begun work to shape the squad that will defend San Marino’s colours in the upcoming competitive European fixtures. In this regard, tomorrow’s official friendly against Albania, kicking off at 18:00 at the San Marino Stadium, will be an extremely important test. The coach himself underlines this: "We started the new cycle in September and tomorrow we face a demanding test, against a high-level national team. I am very pleased with the journey we have taken with the lads so far: tomorrow I would like to see them play with calmness, given there is no pressure regarding the result, but also with focus in putting on the pitch the concepts we have worked on over these weeks. The national team is in an embryonic phase and these tests are extremely useful in allowing the whole group, especially the newcomers, to gain experience at international level." One who is not a newcomer is Andrea Contadini: "There is a great desire to get back on the pitch with the Under-21 National Team. Over the last two years we have produced some good performances and now we want to improve even further. Albania are a physically strong side, while we have several young players still to develop and we will need to be smart in how we interpret the match. Those like me who were already here in the previous two-year cycle will have the additional task of helping the new players settle into this environment. We will certainly give our all tomorrow, as we always do."
