Champions League eve for Tre Penne
Just over twenty-four hours remain until the San Marino clubs’ debut in UEFA club competitions for the 2023-24 season. While the new campaign will be officially ushered in, in absolute terms, by Andorra’s Atlètic Club d'Escalde and Montenegro’s Budućnost Podgorica (tomorrow at 15:00), Tre Penne will take to the field just six hours later. The San Marino champions, involved in the UEFA Champions League Preliminary Round along with the two clubs mentioned above, will face Breidablik, representing Icelandic football. Iceland will in fact host all three matches that will decide the only team to reach the First Qualifying Round of the upcoming UEFA Champions League. For the teams that lose in the semi-finals or in the final, the European adventure will continue in the UEFA Europa Conference League, where – from 13 July – La Fiorita and Cosmos will enter the fray. The Montegiardino club will play the first leg at home, hosting Zimbru Chisinau at the San Marino Stadium at 20:45. The match will be broadcast live on TITANI.TV, as will the second leg between Cosmos and Sutjeska, scheduled at the Serravalle ground on 20 July – again at 20:45.
Staying with Tre Penne’s imminent fixture, the match officials appointed for the clash with Iceland’s Breidablik have been announced. The game will be refereed by Dane Kristoffersen, assisted by compatriots Kronlykke and Markus – with Graagaard as fourth official. Kick-off is scheduled for tomorrow at 21:00 Italian time. The winners of tomorrow’s semi-finals will return to Kópavogsvöllur Stadium on Friday 30 June to contest a place in the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League.
