League: Virtus face Murata test, Tre Penne-Tre Fiori is the big match
Matchday 22 of the Campionato Sammarinese is approaching and promises fireworks. With just under ten games left in the season, the teams are called upon to give everything to consolidate their position in the table. The battle at the top is getting ever tighter, with Virtus leading the league and La Fiorita in determined pursuit. In the play-off spots, meanwhile, the race is wide open and every result could overturn the current hierarchy. With suspensions and players one booking away from a ban, some clubs will have to deal with key absences, making the outcome of this round’s fixtures even more unpredictable.
The matchday opens with La Fiorita taking on Libertas. The Montegiardino side, coming off a crucial draw against league leaders Virtus, are showing they can compete for the title right to the end. The Borgo Maggiore team, on the other hand, go into this clash needing a reaction after their defeat to Tre Penne. The Gialloblù want to continue their climb towards the summit, while the Granata are determined to pick up points to move away from the danger zone.
Cailungo and San Giovanni meet in a clash that finds the Rossoverdi struggling, with only 15 points on the board, while the Rossoneri, fresh from a draw with San Marino Academy, are seeking a win to strengthen their play-off position. In terms of suspensions, Sarti’s side will have everyone available, while Tognacci’s team will have to do without as many as five players: Boldrini, Celli, Di Noto, Aprea and Della Valle.
At the Domagnano Stadium, Cosmos face Faetano in a match with important points at stake in the race for the play-offs. The Serravalle club, coming off a 0-0 draw with Domagnano, need a victory to move into the direct play-off positions. The Gialloblu, meanwhile, arrive in good spirits after their win over Pennarossa and will be looking to secure another positive result.
Saturday’s action concludes with the clash between Juvenes-Dogana and Domagnano, scheduled for 18:00. Fabbri’s team – who will not be on the bench due to suspension – are on a run of four consecutive defeats and are desperately trying to turn things around to get back into the play-off race. The Lupi, who drew their last game, want to consolidate their mid-table position, which is currently the last place that guarantees a spot in the post-season.
Sunday kicks off with the 15:00 big match between Tre Penne and Tre Fiori. Both teams sit on 37 points and want to remain in the upper reaches of the table. The Biancazzurri are coming off a convincing win over Libertas and have shown an impressive defensive solidity (just two goals conceded in their last five games). The Gialloblu, meanwhile, drew the derby with Fiorentino and are eager to get back to winning ways after three rounds without a victory.
At the same time, Pennarossa and Fiorentino meet at the “Federico Crescentini”. The Biancorossi remain bottom of the group and will need a major upset against the Rossoblu, who are enjoying a high-level season – despite Tarini’s side also having gone three games without a win.
Also kicking off at 15:00 are San Marino Academy and Folgore, in a match that finds the Titani still going through a difficult spell, although a win could reignite their play-off push. The Giallorossoneri, currently third, have an opportunity to cement that position and remain comfortably placed for the post-season.
Matchday 22 concludes with the 18:00 showdown between Murata and Virtus. The Neroverdi from Acquaviva – still top of the table – have already collected seventeen wins, three draws and just one defeat, confirming their status as the team to beat. The Bianconeri, meanwhile, after losing to Cailungo, will try to halt the charge of the league leaders.
The novelty this round will be the presence of a refereeing team from Gibraltar, as part of the usual exchange of officials between European federations. José Antonio Delgado will referee Saturday’s match between Cosmos and Faetano – assisted by Kyron Azopardi and Esteban Noguera Cabrera, with Denis Gonzalez Perez as fourth official. On Sunday, Perez Gonzalez will take charge of Tre Penne-Tre Fiori, with Delgado as fourth official and the same assistant referees as in the previous day’s match.
As part of the exchange, ASA referees Xhafa Durim and Marco Avoni will travel to Gibraltar, with assistant referees Giuseppe Macaddino and Simone Savorani.
Here is the fixture list for Matchday 22 of the Campionato Sammarinese, with a reminder that all games will be broadcast live – and completely free of charge – on the Titani.tv platform.
