Friendlies: the National Team departs for Saint Lucia

The San Marino National Team has set off on its first ever friendly tour in Central America. The Titani will be in action on 17 and 20 November in Saint Lucia, the Caribbean island whose national side – competing in CONMEBOL competitions – will face Fabrizio Costantini’s Biancazzurri in two consecutive matches. This morning the squad made its connection in London, from where San Marino will fly to Saint Lucia tomorrow morning. Arrival is scheduled after a nine-hour flight, at the end of which – taking into account the five-hour time difference between the two countries and the ground transfer – the National Team will use the afternoon to shake off the fatigue of the demanding journey. On Wednesday there will be a double training session: in the morning, a first workout on the pitch for the 26 players involved in this absolute first for the team, then – in the afternoon – the official eve-of-match training at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, the venue that will host the two official friendlies. In the San Marino ranks, seven players could mark their National Team debut with this trip to the Tropic of Cancer. The youngest of them is Lorenzo Lazzari – a midfielder born in 2003 who has recently taken his first steps with the Under-21s. Along with him, Costantini could hand debuts to Capicchioni, Ceccaroli, Ciacci, Matteoni, Pancotti and Sopranzi. From a statistical point of view, if Vitaioli is involved in both fixtures, he would become the first and only San Marino player to reach 80 caps with the National Team. He already holds outright the record for international appearances, with 78 matches played in his career. The first match will be played on Thursday 17 November, at 18:00 local time. In San Marino it will be 23:00 and the game will be broadcast live with commentary – in Italy and San Marino – on the multimedia platforms of San Marino RTV (DTT, Tivù Sat, Sky Italia and the official website). Supporters of the Titani will be able to do the same for the second match against Saint Lucia, scheduled for Sunday 20 November, with an earlier kick-off: 16:00 in the Caribbean archipelago, 21:00 in Italy and San Marino.
