FSGC and the Sammarinese Referees Association have launched the first refereeing course held in San Marino. Open to boys and girls aged between 15 and 35, it is completely free of charge and will consist of a series of two sessions per week at the San Marino Stadium, over a period of around one and a half months (20 hours in total). Structured with classroom lessons and more, it is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30 to 20:00 starting from 27 February. The programme is also open to registered members of the San Marino Football Federation or other sports organisations, including active players. In their case, to avoid potential conflicts of interest in the event of a dual career, they would be appointed to matches in Sammarinese youth leagues and the Italian U13 championship. In addition to free access to the training course, participants will receive official kit (tracksuit, polo shirt and backpack). Those who complete the training programme and decide to embark on this new adventure will subsequently receive all the equipment they need, namely the four official match kits, a kit bag, formal wear and technical training gear. All this is provided free of charge, with no membership fees now or in the future. Refereeing offers an opportunity that can be pursued both in football and futsal. It also provides a genuine chance of an international career pathway, thanks to a football association affiliated to UEFA and FIFA such as the FSGC, which can open doors to the most talented refereeing prospects in the country. Taking charge of matches in the Champions League, World Cup and European qualifiers, the UEFA Futsal Champions League and the main international football and futsal competitions is possible through a career as a match official. Crucial and indispensable, and carrying great responsibility while demanding many skills that go far beyond physical and aerobic performance alone, a refereeing career is paid.
