BKN301 Championship: lead changes hands, title decider on Wednesday

The long-distance duel between Cosmos and Tre Penne ends with the City club moving top of the table, as they beat San Giovanni 3-2 but are made to sweat after a second half that Ceci’s men had started 3-0 up. Credit to the strikes from Ceccaroli, Lombardi and Nigretti in the first half. The Rossoneri reaction sees Kevin Lisi pull one back on 56 minutes, with Nicola Sartini adding a goal on 90 minutes to pile the pressure on Tre Penne during the lengthy stoppage time. The Biancazzurri, however, bank a win of double significance, as at the same time Virtus held Cosmos. Berardi’s men come flying out of the blocks but fail to make the most of two clear chances created in the opening quarter of an hour. So Virtus score with their first real foray, or rather from the aftermath of a Pedrini surge that sees him skip past Simoncini as well before being denied by a last-ditch goal-line clearance. Which only delays by a few seconds the Neroverdi opener, signed by Angeli – who does well to glance a header into the far corner from Buonocunto’s corner. Shortly before the break Cosmos draw level, capitalising on a clear indecision from Passaniti. The Virtus keeper is less than convincing on a tame header from Prandelli, ultimately making life easy for Nisi, who is perfectly placed on the edge of the six-yard box. After the restart fear takes over and the goalkeepers are virtually untested: Virtus come close to landing a sensational knockout blow when Contadini – already the Gialloverdi’s executioner in the Coppa Titano – fires just wide. Commanding win for Libertas on the Acquaviva artificial pitch, where Sperindio’s side wrap up the Domagnano assignment with a clear-cut 3-0, sealed within an hour. It is Olcese who breaks the deadlock, taking his league tally to 13 thanks to Moretti’s cross. Only Prandelli and Stefanelli have more. The second comes from a Ferraro own goal early in the second half, while Bucci puts the game to bed on 58 minutes from a Merendino assist. At the Federico Crescentini, Pennarossa – understandably not at their best physically or mentally given recent events – go down 4-1 to Juvenes-Dogana. The Serravalle club are in front shortly after the half-hour mark thanks to a thunderbolt into the top corner from Meluzzi, doubling their lead in the opening minute of the second half with a fine left-footed volley from Stella. The striker then stylishly adds a third from a Salvemini pass, before Stefanelli pulls one back to make it 3-1, exploiting a blackout in the opposing defence to notch his 14th goal of the campaign, two shy of top scorer Prandelli. Before the end Benedetti also gets on the scoresheet, showing great composure to finish off a frantic move in the Biancorossi penalty area. The victory lifts Juvenes-Dogana up to eighth in the table, ahead of Domagnano, Pennarossa and San Giovanni, while they await the outcome of the sides occupying the final four positions – all in action tomorrow at 15:00. The late kick-offs in Matchday 26 of the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301 will be broadcast live and completely free of charge on Titani.tv:
