Calcio Estate 2023: all the candidates for the FSGC summer awards night
Right on cue, the date with Calcio Estate 2023 returns: the summer showcase organised by the Football Federation in which, as usual, the standout performers of last season will be honoured. The awards night will take place on Monday 17 July at 19:00 in the press room of the San Marino Stadium.
No fewer than 21 awards will be handed out over the course of the evening. The highlight will naturally be the Crystal Ball, reserved for the best San Marino player or resident. Battling it out for the award are Luca Ceccaroli (Tre Penne), Alessandro D'Addario (Cosmos) and Mattia Stefanelli (last season at Pennarossa, who has recently signed for Fiorentino).
As for the "foreign" players (non-San Marino passport holders and non-residents on the Titan), the candidates for the Koppe Trophy are Ivan Buonocunto (Virtus), Luca Righini (Tre Penne) and Riccardo Zulli (Cosmos). Remaining within the sphere of domestic football competitions, there will also be room for the Golden Bench, dedicated to the best coach: in the running are Luigi Bizzotto (Virtus), Stefano Ceci (Tre Penne) and Nicola Berardi (Cosmos). There will also be an award for the most sporting coach, who will receive the “Duilio Felici” award. Space will also be given to the best San Marino Under-23 who most caught the eye during the season: the candidates for the “Golden Boy” award are Elia Ciacci (Virtus), Lorenzo Capicchioni (Victor San Marino/Cosmos) and Lorenzo Lazzari (Victor San Marino).
There will be no nominations, however, for the "statistical" awards. Matteo Prandelli of Cosmos is in fact the Golden Bombardino for the highest number of goals scored in the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301 (23 for the yellow-green striker), while the BKN301 Coppa Titano top scorer award will go to Ivan Buonocunto who, thanks to his five goals, helped drive Virtus to triumph in the competition.
There will also be the Communication Award, reserved for journalists and media operators: the candidates are Giacomo Santi (Folgore press officer and commentator for Titani.tv), Lorenzo Fortunato (Titani.tv commentator) and Paolo Santi (Titani.tv commentator). As usual, the Lifetime Achievement Oscar will also be presented to a long-serving club official from San Marino football.
To round off the domestic football section, there are two awards that are “children” of Titani.tv. From the more than 200 matches broadcast by the FSGC’s streaming platform, the thirty best goals of the BKN301 League regular season were selected. Through a poll on the FSGC.sm website, every fan was able to cast their vote and the best goal of the season will thus be honoured during the awards night. In addition, from this season there is a brand new addition to the Calcio Estate awards: with the chance to watch – and above all rewatch – all league matches, assists have also been included among the statistics for each player. This led to the creation of a new award – the Assist Award – which will go to the player with the most decisive passes over the whole season.
Awards are also planned for the futsal sector. For the best player award (“Futsal Best Player”) the candidates are Danilo Busignani (Fiorentino), Massimiliano Bernardi (Folgore) and Matteo Moretti (Fiorentino). As in football, futsal will also have its own prize for the best Under-23 talent: vying for the “Futsal Talent” award are Jacopo Giuccioli (La Fiorita), Matteo Chezzi (Folgore) and Johnny Barbano (San Marino Academy Under 19). For the “Futsal Golden Bench” – reserved for the best coach between the Campionato Sammarinese and the Titano Futsal Cup – the nominees are Matteo Michelotti (Fiorentino), Massimiliano Spada (Folgore) and Davide Elia Ghiotti (La Fiorita). The Futsal Golden Bombardino award, on the other hand, will certainly go to Danilo Busignani, who has enjoyed a sensational season thanks to his 70 goals in the red and blue shirt of Fiorentino.
There will be three awards dedicated to the youth and women’s sectors of the San Marino Academy. The “Top Woman” award, for the best senior player, will go to one of: Paola Giudice (Women’s Futsal), Federica Taioli (Women’s Futsal) or Raffaella Barbieri (Women’s First Team). A similar prize, but reserved for the best Under-23 women’s footballer, is the “Top Lady” award: it will go to one of: Elisa Terenzi (Women’s Under-15), Sofia Pirini (Women’s Primavera) or Asia Scotti (Women’s Primavera). As in football and futsal, the Academy sector will also present an award to the best coach across all youth and women’s teams: the candidates for the “San Marino Academy Golden Bench” are Emanuele Iencinella (San Marino Academy Women’s Primavera), Matteo Selva (San Marino Academy Women’s Futsal and Men’s Under-19) and Giacomo Piva (San Marino Academy Under-15).
The refereeing sector will also have its awards: in cooperation with the CAN, prizes will be presented for the best football referee of last season (“Golden Whistle”), the best assistant referee (“Golden Flag”) and the best match official in futsal (“Futsal Golden Whistle”).
