"Challenging the Impossible. The Incredible Story of Sammarinese Football" – at the Titanus Museum from 14 November
The ribbon-cutting for the innovative multimedia and museum installation dedicated to the history of Sammarinese football is fast approaching. It will be housed at the Titanus Museum (Contrada Santa Croce, 20 – 47890, City of San Marino). The project, formalised on 31 May, will be unveiled on 14 November: "Challenging the Impossible. The Incredible Story of Sammarinese Football" will open its doors to the public on the eve of San Marino-Gibraltar, the UEFA Nations League match to be played at the San Marino Stadium. A special première is scheduled for Tuesday 12 November, aimed at the political and sporting institutions of San Marino, as well as representatives of UEFA and FIFA – with the participation of the leadership of the San Marino Football Federation and of affiliated clubs and associations.
"For several years now, FSGC has been pursuing a very ambitious goal – says President Marco Tura – namely, to show everyone the great courage and pride of Sammarinese football, both on and off the pitch. To carry this ambitious vision forward, we have to go through several stages, and the one we are now presenting – conceived and implemented with strong determination – is precisely the creation of the Federation’s first museum space, something that has never existed before." This goal was achieved thanks to the immediate synergy that arose with Titanus Museum which – states its President Dennis Guerra – "embraced the FSGC project in the awareness that it is the ideal place to offer all enthusiasts, supporters and those interested in the history of Sammarinese football, an emotionally engaging learning experience. Everything that embraces our territory and culture and is an integral part of our State finds a home at the Titanus Museum. We are certain that this vision will move everyone who comes to visit us."
The Titanus Museum will offer visitors an immersive and engaging narrative retracing all the key stages in the development of the football movement in the Republic of San Marino. From the very first steps, about a century ago, through to the present day and including – inevitably – its milestones: the rise of Massimo Bonini, the European debuts of clubs and the National Team, the victory over Liechtenstein and the records set within and beyond national borders.
All of this will be presented in an innovative and up-to-date exhibition, designed to capture the interest of both local and international audiences through a sequence of images, photos, videos and multimedia material that will allow visitors to appreciate the century-long football history of the Republic of San Marino. It is almost a must-see for supporters and admirers of the Sammarinese game, but also a wonderful opportunity for the many tourists who have come into contact with our country through the international commitments of its national team. Alongside the complex and remarkable multimedia installation, there will also be a section dedicated to significant memorabilia from Sammarinese football – enabling visitors to get to grips (almost literally) with authentic pieces of the puzzle that make up an extraordinary story of sport, people and challenges stretching back over 93 years.
