Championship: dominant Murata hit San Marino Academy for five in 5-1 win
Murata hit five in the only Sunday late kick-off on the schedule for Matchday 6 of the 2025-26 Campionato Sammarinese. Camillini’s side struggle early on with the energy and intensity of San Marino Academy, who however fail to turn their initial superiority into the opening goal. Renzi lashes a wayward right-footed effort from the heart of the box after less than five minutes, while D’Addario appeals in vain for a penalty after a coming together with Tomassoni. The referee deems the robust duel between the two to be within the rules. The pressure from Roberto Di Maio’s players is constant, but their finishing leaves a lot to be desired: the same goes for Simone Gasperoni, good at arriving at the far post to volley Renzi’s cross. The two forwards combine well on 15 minutes, when Protti works a ball on the corner of the area before releasing the run of Marfella, whose right-footed strike has the defect of being too central. On 22 minutes the Academy break brilliantly, reaching goal with four passes, but Cirillo throws himself in the way of Della Balda’s right-footed shot and prevents any serious damage.
Murata’s opening goal then arrives like a bolt from the blue, and comes from their first real chance. A missed intervention by Mattia Ciacci in midfield allows Labas to send Cirillo racing away. His right-footed attempt is blocked by the same centre-back, but the ball falls kindly for Socciarelli, who beats Borasco. From here it becomes a different game, with the Academy attacking constantly but without much structure, leaving themselves open to their opponents’ counters. A ball lost by Simone Gasperoni leads to the second goal on 39 minutes, which statistically goes down as an own goal. Domeniconi, trying to nip in ahead of Gashi, ends up beating Borasco again. Di Maio makes as many as four substitutions at half-time, clearly trying to jolt his side into life. But it is Murata who score again, breaking into open field through Labas: Gashi, freed by the former Cailungo man, keeps his cool and makes it 3-0. A few minutes later Kashari also gets on the scoresheet, left inexplicably free to attack the near post and turn in Tomassoni’s cross unchallenged. The move is similar to the one that produces the Academy’s consolation goal, crafted by two substitutes: Valentini drives down the right and pulls the ball back for Tamagnini, who surprises Bracconi with his left foot. Anyone who sensed the chance of a sensational comeback was soon disappointed: after having one goal disallowed for offside, Labas wraps it up on 76 minutes, meeting Cirillo’s assist to complete Murata’s superb four-goal haul.
