Championship: Play-off appetiser between Tre Penne and Cosmos

The Campionato Sammarinese heats up with the 24th matchday, to be played between Saturday and Sunday, serving up decisive clashes in the race for the play-offs and for the definition of league positions. It is worth noting that some teams, such as Tre Penne, Tre Fiori, Virtus and La Fiorita, will go into this round after their midweek commitments in the Coppa Titano. The energy spent in Wednesday’s ties could affect their performances at the weekend. Among the standout fixtures of matchday 24, all eyes are on the Tre Penne v Cosmos clash – kicking off on Sunday at 15:00 in Montecchio. The Biancoazzurri come into this one on the back of a victory in the Coppa Titano. The Gialloverdi, on the other hand, have had more time to prepare for the match and will look to capitalise on their opponents’ fatigue. Tre Penne will have to defend their valuable place in the play-off zone, while Cosmos have the chance to turn the tables and leapfrog them in the standings. At the same time, but at the stadium in Fiorentino, leaders Virtus will take on San Marino Academy. The Neroverdi arrive at this fixture after Wednesday’s cup outing, which may have taken a toll on the team’s energy levels. The Titani, by contrast, will enjoy the advantage of fresher legs and will do everything they can to trouble the side sitting top of the table. Fresh from their midweek cup defeat, Tre Fiori will try to bounce back against Juvenes-Dogana (Domagnano, 15:00). The Biancorossoblu will look to make the most of this situation to put their opponents under pressure and attempt to repeat last weekend’s victory. In addition to the suspended Maza Rodriguez, Fabbri’s side will also be without Mazzavillani, while Tre Fiori will have to cope with the absence of Tommasini. Rounding off Sunday’s programme will be La Fiorita v San Giovanni, kicking off at 18:00 in Montecchio. Ceci’s Gialloblu will nonetheless have to be wary of one of the in-form teams of the moment. Tognacci’s Rossoneri are on a seven-match unbeaten run and in the reverse fixture were beaten only 2-1. Furthermore, the Montegiardino club will be without the suspended Lunadei, Zazas Sanchez and Giaretta. As for Saturday’s early fixtures, proceedings get underway with the match between Domagnano and Faetano (Fiorentino, 15:00). The Lupi head into this encounter aiming to consolidate their position in the table. The Giallorossi have shown good defensive solidity in recent outings and will try to build on those positive results. On the other side, Faetano need points to improve a season that has been inconsistent so far. A balanced affair is in prospect, with both sides now just a step away from clinching a precious place in the post-season. Also in action on Saturday afternoon are Cailungo and Fiorentino. It is a difficult period for both teams: the Rossoverdi have managed just one win in their last five, while the Rossoblu have not tasted victory for over a month. Kick-off is at 15:00 in Domagnano. Looking for points and eager to climb the table, Pennarossa and Libertas will face off on Saturday at 15:00 in Montecchio. Dolci’s Biancorossi have shown character in recent matches, but they will need greater consistency to achieve significant results. Buda’s Granata, meanwhile, come into the game on the back of four consecutive defeats and will try to reverse their negative run. Libertas will also be without the suspended Thomas Rosti. Saturday’s final match will be Murata v Folgore at 18:00 on the artificial pitch in Montecchio. The Bianconeri face one of the most solid teams in the league and will be looking to get back to winning ways after three rounds without a victory. Moreover, a win would move Camillini’s men closer to seventh place, which guarantees direct access to the play-offs. Lasagni’s Giallorossoneri, after their defeat to leaders Virtus, are determined to get back to picking up points. As has been the case in recent weeks, this round will also feature a referee exchange between federations. For Saturday’s match between Domagnano and Faetano, the referee will be Daniel Portelli, with Slobodan Petrovic as fourth official, supported by assistants Kierran Mallia and Andrea Schiavone Pavia. For Sunday’s clash between Tre Penne and Cosmos, Petrovic will take charge of the match, with Portelli as fourth official and the same assistants as the previous day. Heading to Malta instead will be the Sammarinese referees Antonio Ucini and William Villa, together with assistants Francesco Lunardon and Mattia Sapigni, who will be involved in several Maltese league fixtures. Here is the schedule for the 24th matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese, which will be broadcast in full, live and completely free of charge, on the Titani.tv platform.
