Championship: post-season kicks off tomorrow with the Preliminary Round

With the regular season now over – last weekend saw Virtus crowned champions for the first time in their history – the curtain will immediately rise on the post-season tomorrow evening. Action resumes in the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301 with the two matches of the Preliminary Round, the gateway to the play-off quarter-finals which offer a place in Europe. The ties are single-leg, with no extra time or penalties. In the event of a draw after the full ninety minutes, the team that finished higher in the regular-season standings will qualify for the next round. Following their defeat on the final day at the hands of San Giovanni, Juvenes-Dogana finished eighth. That means tomorrow evening Amati’s side will face Domagnano, who ended the regular season in 11th place. In the 20:45 kick-off scheduled in Acquaviva, the Serravalle club will have two results out of three in their favour to go through: even a draw would be enough to reach the play-off quarter-finals by virtue of their higher regular-season position. The Giallorossi therefore have only one option: they must win. Past meetings this season do not bode well for Paolo Rossi’s team, beaten both home and away. The other Preliminary Round fixture scheduled for tomorrow evening – also at 20:45 – is in Montecchio, between Folgore and Fiorentino. For Lasagni’s Giallorossoneri – ninth in the regular season – a draw could also be enough, while Camillini’s Rossoblu must win, given their lower position in the table (tenth) compared with the Falciano club. This season’s head-to-heads suggest a tightly balanced contest: in the first round of the regular season Folgore edged the game, while the return fixture – played on 6 April – ended in a draw. The two winners will then go on to face – in the quarter-final bracket – La Fiorita and Tre Penne. The side with the lower regular-season finish will take on the Gialloblu from Montegiardino, while the one with the higher finish will meet the Biancoazzurri from Città. Here is the schedule for the two Preliminary Round ties to be played tomorrow, both of which will be broadcast live on Titani.tv with full commentary:
