Championship: Tre Fiori look to pull away, Virtus and Domagnano aim to keep pace

On the first weekend of December, the Campionato Sammarinese resumes with Matchday 12. No fewer than five games are scheduled for Saturday – all kicking off at 15:00 – with three more on Sunday. The top two – Tre Fiori and Virtus – both play in the early fixtures. Girolomoni’s Gialloblù face Murata (Acquaviva, 15:00) in a classic top-versus-bottom clash, eager to extend their lead at the summit. Despite back-to-back draws, Tre Fiori remain unbeaten, while Camillini’s Bianconeri have not won since 19 October (their first and only victory). On paper it looks a straightforward round for the league leaders, while for chasers Virtus – just one point behind – there is a tricky test against Tre Penne. It’s a must-watch encounter (Montecchio, 15:00) between the last two champions of San Marino, who arrive in contrasting moods: the Neroverdi were beaten in the last round by surprise package Domagnano, while the Biancoazzurri are flying and unbeaten in six across league and cup. Moreover, if Bonini’s side – who have taken points from every match under his tenure – were to win, they would move to within a single point of Virtus. The Coppa Titano factor also comes into play: the second legs of the quarter-finals are on Wednesday 10, and Tre Penne have a delicate tie with Juvenes-Dogana, after the first leg finished 1-1.

Among the other Saturday afternoon fixtures, one of the Serravalle derbies between Folgore and Cosmos (Dogana, 15:00) is also of interest. Neither side is enjoying a sparkling run, but a win would provide a lift to Lasagni’s men – he is facing his former club – and to Selva’s team. Alongside Tre Fiori, the other unbeaten side are La Fiorita, who on Saturday take on San Giovanni (Fiorentino, 15:00). Ceci can count on the best attack in the league (30 goals), while what the Rossoneri are lacking is precisely their finishing touch (just 6 goals scored, the worst attack along with Fiorentino, Cailungo and San Marino Academy). Saturday’s programme is rounded off in Domagnano by the meeting between Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas. Boldrini’s side are in good shape after two wins on the bounce, but will already have one eye on next Wednesday’s cup clash with Tre Penne. The Granata could look to capitalise and chase a victory that has eluded them since 27 September.

On Sunday all eyes will be on Acquaviva, where Domagnano – the major surprise of this first part of the season – take on Faetano. At 15:00 Amati’s side must confirm what they have shown in recent weeks and stay in touch with the leading pack. The Giallorossi – currently third, three points off top spot – have not lost since 5 October and, above all, have not conceded a goal for 300 minutes. They can also rely on Matthias Bonetti, the current top scorer with 8 goals. Sperindio’s Faetano, however, come into the game on the back of a good win in the last round over San Giovanni, thanks to Renzi’s free-kick from the halfway line.

Pennarossa are another side looking to extend their positive spell. Ricchiuti’s men have picked up seven points from their last four and sit comfortably in mid-table. The Biancorossi are in action in Montecchio at 15:00 against Cailungo: the Rossoverdi ended their losing streak last weekend with a draw against Cosmos, but their last win dates back to 13 September. The clash between Pennarossa and Cailungo will also be available on FIFA+. In Domagnano – again at 15:00 – Fiorentino and San Marino Academy take to the field. Costantini’s Rossoblù are in good shape (two straight wins, both 1-0) and want to keep their run going, while Di Maio’s Titani are still chasing their first victory of the season.
