Campionship: Van Nek rescues Tre Fiori, Fiorentino hit top gear

The Castello di Fiorentino is celebrating after the two Saturday fixtures of matchday five in the 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese. Tre Fiori suffer against San Giovanni and need a late goal to save the Gialloblù, while Fiorentino in Montecchio hit Faetano for six and return to a win that had been missing since their opening outing. In Acquaviva, Girolomoni’s Tre Fiori have to do without the injured Prandelli, but up front there is Bernardi – fresh from winning the Reabilita Player of the Month award for September. The game is evenly balanced and San Giovanni are not overawed by the reigning champions. Zanni goes close with a right-foot effort that shaves the post (18’), then Nardi saves his side with a fine stop on Caverzan’s turn in the box (23’). The Rossoneri play the better football and would have deserved the lead, but on 40 minutes it is the crossbar that denies D’orsi and his team. After the break Tre Fiori change attitude and on 50 minutes it is Bernardi who sounds the charge with a nice turn in the area, but Casadei stretches well to keep him out. The San Giovanni goalkeeper is decisive again on subsequent Tre Fiori attempts, most notably on 53 minutes when he beats away Ben Kacem’s powerful drive from the edge of the box. San Giovanni suffer, but on 77 minutes they carve out another chance to go in front with Scarpellini’s powerful left-foot effort, trying to finish off a scramble in the area, but Nardi stands tall with a superb reflex save. That takes us into the 84th minute, when Tre Fiori finally find the decisive three-point strike: from a corner for the Gialloblù comes Van Nek’s close-range stab – the substitute having only just come on. It is the goal that settles the Acquaviva clash in favour of Tre Fiori, who bounce back to a league win after losing to Virtus. Plenty of regrets for Antonioli’s San Giovanni.

A completely different kind of victory instead for Fiorentino, who in Montecchio cruise to a wide-margin success. The contest opens up after only a few minutes: on 9 minutes, contact in the box between Stegger and Venturini results in a penalty to Fiorentino. Captain Costantini steps up and makes no mistake from the spot. The lead fires up the Rossoblù, who double their advantage ten minutes later: a fierce strike from the edge of the box by Khalifa Ajmi is intercepted by Venturini, but he can only parry into a dangerous area, and Vicente is quickest to the rebound to make it 2-0. Faetano are unable to react and Fiorentino strike again shortly afterwards. On 25 minutes Ledesma carries the ball forward and, once he reaches the centre circle, goes straight for goal, scoring a sensational effort from over forty metres. To round off an almost perfect first half for Fiorentino, Vicente strikes again shortly before the interval, heading in the fourth – and his own brace – from a pinpoint Khalifa Ajmi cross. The sides go in at the break with Monaco’s Rossoblù 4-0 up. During the interval Sperindio tries to stem the tide with several changes – including Panfili replacing goalkeeper Venturini – but the script does not change. Fiorentino remain in total control and on 56 minutes further increase their score: Steger’s inswinging corner finds Cucchi at the near post, whose header makes it 5-0. Late on there is still time for the sixth and final goal of the afternoon. It is Steger who adds his name to the scoresheet, punishing a mistake in the build-up by Panfili, skipping past Marchese and slotting in the final 6-0 to Fiorentino. Francesco Monaco’s side can therefore celebrate, returning to winning ways after taking just one point from their previous three outings. Another setback for Faetano, who remain bottom of the table and still without a win.
