Coach education: last Tuesday’s session with Carlo Castagna

On the evening of Tuesday 20 February, an interesting refresher session was held by the Coach Education Department of the San Marino Football Federation, in collaboration with ASAC, aimed at FSGC coaches. In the conference room of the Casa del Calcio, more than one hundred attendees took part in a highly engaging and interactive lecture, expertly delivered by Prof. Carlo Castagna. A professional fitness coach and FIGC instructor, he is also a member of the UEFA Fitness for Football Advisory Board and a researcher at the University of Urbino. Almost three hours of discussion focused on understanding the evolution of football from a physical standpoint, looking ahead to 2030. There were plenty of insights and questions from the audience, intrigued by data from major international studies conducted by leading global experts in the field. It was a productive evening, thanks above all to the stature, expertise and openness of the speaker, who clearly and precisely set out to raise doubts and questions among all participants. The evening concluded with a “see you soon” for Carlo Castagna, who will return to the Republic to explore further topics in the near future.
