Coppa Titano: first-leg semi-finals on Wednesday
in the first chapter of the semi-finals. On one side of the draw we will find Virtus and La Fiorita – putting heart and soul into the league as well, in a duel that will award the title to one of the two – while on the other it will be the turn of Tre Fiori and Tre Penne, who are staking more than a few chips on the oldest competition in Sammarinese football, postponing their European ambitions to the play-offs.
The latter encounter will also feature in the FIFA+ schedule, as well as being broadcast – as always, and just like the other semi-final – free to air on TITANI.TV. No Tre Fiori player is suspended following the second legs of the quarter-finals, but Ciacci, Djadji and Dolcini will go into the match one booking away from a ban. The same applies to Barretta, Cardellino, Grieco and Nigretti for Tre Penne, who will also have to do without Guidi and Amati – both suspended for one match by the sports judge. The Fiorentino club knocked out Libertas and San Giovanni on their way here, keeping a clean sheet in every game except the second leg of the quarter-finals (2-2), which they approached with a four-goal cushion. The other club from Borgo Maggiore – Cailungo – went out to Tre Penne in the round of 16, while in the following round the Biancazzurri had to work extremely hard to qualify. Extra time was needed, and Moscardi’s goal in the 114th minute finally settled the tie with Folgore.
La Fiorita, on the other hand, have played only two matches so far. The Montegiardino side benefited from a first-round bye thanks to last year’s triumph, achieved – curiously – against their upcoming opponents Virtus, and then eliminated Juvenes-Dogana with back-to-back 2-0 wins. The team coached by former player Luigi Bizzotto, meanwhile, got the better of Cosmos after two fiercely contested matches in the round of 16. Their 180-minute victory over Faetano was more straightforward. So we are guaranteed a different final compared to last season: whether the Gialloblù manage to defend the trophy right to the end, or Virtus reach a third successive Coppa Titano final, will soon be revealed. This season’s record points to great balance: two league draws between the sides, plus the Supercup clash won by the Neroverdi – a result not entirely indicative of the level La Fiorita would go on to show after a complete overhaul of their squad and coaching staff. There are no suspensions, while the only players at risk of a ban all belong to Virtus; specifically, Benincasa, Gori and Vallocchia.
Here is the schedule for the first-leg semi-finals of the Coppa Titano, all of which will be streamed live – and completely free of charge – on the Titani.tv platform.
