Coppa Titano, no surprises: Domagnano-Tre Fiori and Folgore-Virtus in the quarter-finals

Of the four second-leg ties postponed to complete the Coppa Titano 2026-27 Round of 16, the Fiorentino derby was the one that started from the most finely balanced position. The match in Acquaviva, though, told a very different story. The Gialloblù needed just thirteen minutes to double their cushion, having already broken the deadlock through Mengucci – finishing into an empty net after a wonderful assist from Ben Kacem. Midway through the half, progress to the next round was all but sealed: another fine vertical move involved D’addario and Bernardi in the build-up. It was the latter who threaded the ball through for Ben Kacem, who gave Berardi no chance. The curtain effectively came down on 32 minutes, when Mengucci – from the left – picked out the run into the box of Benedettini, who made it three. Tre Fiori refused to ease off and, after 130 seconds of the second half, also got Rea on the scoresheet: the centre-back rose completely unmarked at the far post, perfectly picked out by Benedettini’s corner. Girolomoni’s side were still not satisfied, going close to a fifth on three further occasions with the same Benedettini and Rea – the latter wasting two big chances from set-pieces. Dolcini did not miss, instead signing off the 5-0 on 75 minutes with a thunderous strike from mid-range that flew into the top corner to Berardi’s right. Tre Fiori kept pushing without adding further to their tally and duly booked a two-legged quarter-final against Domagnano.

The Giallorossi outfit lived up to expectations. After their 3-1 first-leg win, they went ahead again inside a quarter of an hour through Riccardo Michelucci. The midfielder timed his central run to perfection to finish off the excellent work and pinpoint pass of Menini, operating from the left flank. Earlier, Mereu had already forced Bracconi into action with a first-time side-footed effort from a good position. Domagnano effectively put the tie to bed on 33 minutes, when Ambrosini doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Buda was fouled. After the break, a mistake by Di Palma on a cross from Riccardo Michelucci allowed Menini to pounce on the loose ball in the box and make it 3-0 to the Wolves. On the hour mark Buda went close to a fourth, ushering in a final phase in which both sides focused solely on chasing goals. That explains the Faetano goal on the counter, finished in great style by Diego Michelucci: a perfect coast-to-coast, capped with a rocket of a right-footed strike. Before the end, Domagnano struck again: after two miraculous saves from Panfili, Fortunato recycled the ball out to Buda, who brought it under control and picked out the far corner. With the game now stretched, Faetano found their second of the night through Salvi, who did well to follow Rivas’ run in behind and capitalise on his team-mate’s battling work despite being outnumbered by the centre-backs. That was the final twist of the evening, underlining Domagnano’s superiority – with the Wolves now set to face powerhouse Tre Fiori in the next round.

It was mission impossible for Murata, although they approached the tie with the right attitude and twice worked shooting opportunities for Brisigotti – off target on both occasions. Virtus responded twice from corners with Ciacci’s right boot, lacking power or accuracy, and Gjoni, who threatened from distance. The best chance of the first half fell on 30 minutes, when Sacchini beat his marker on the edge of the area and fired towards the near post – only to see his effort come back off the upright with the goalkeeper beaten. To add insult to injury, Murata then fell behind ten minutes later: relentless pressing high up the pitch allowed Buonocunto to slide a golden pass to Gjoni, who finished clinically from close range. With the same aggressive approach, Muratori’s side earned their second goal right at the start of the second half: Magnani’s poor footwork at the back allowed Blanco to win the ball and tuck it away for 2-0. The Neroverdi fully justified their two-goal cushion, threatening again through Lisanti and Muggeo. Murata turned to Hassler in search of a consolation, but Venturini was alert to the run of the skilful forward. In the end Virtus did find a third: Lisanti, producing a superb ruleta to escape Ruocco’s pressure, then curled into the corner to beat Magnani once more. Progress was never really in doubt for the Acquaviva club, who will now face Folgore in the quarter-finals.

Compared to the first leg, Libertas posed less of a threat to De Angelis’ goal, while Ricci’s side – who have only won so far this season – were content to manage the two-goal advantage built previously. It was a disciplined display from the Giallorossoneri, who were happy to leave the onus of creating and finishing to their opponents. The Borgo Maggiore club mainly resorted to long-range efforts, which missed – sometimes narrowly – the Folgore goal. Then, when Tomassini finally did find a way past De Angelis, the San Marino forward was denied by an offside flag. At the other end, Socciarelli remarkably kept Libertas in it: De Nicolò and Raschi launched a perfect counter-attack which, after a deflection, finished at the feet of Malaponti. From close range his right-footed shot was turned behind for a corner by the last-ditch block of the Libertas midfielder. It mattered little in the end for Folgore, who effectively rubber-stamped qualification on 53 minutes through Tampellini: having freed himself at the near post, he headed with his back to goal, finding a deadly trajectory beyond Gueye. There was no luck for Libertas either, as on 76 minutes they were denied by the woodwork when Gregorio’s close-range header looked destined for the net. In the closing stages there was also a chance for Pancotti, who failed to get on the scoresheet only thanks to a fine save from Achille Fabbri’s goalkeeper. It was another victory for the Falciano club, who now face a run of direct clashes in the league and a Coppa Titano quarter-final against Virtus.
