European Cups: Ascari appointed in Sweden, Podeschi in Greece

The European nights continue for Cristiano Ascari and Stefano Podeschi. The UEFA Delegate is in Stockholm to oversee the UEFA Europa Conference League match between hosts Djurgårdens and Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers. The two sides will face off this evening on Matchday 6 of the group stage; likewise, Olympiacos and Nantes will do the same, meeting in Piraeus for their own Matchday 6 fixture in the UEFA Europa League group phase. Podeschi will also be at the stadium in Piraeus in his role as UEFA Referee Observer: his focus will be on the performance of Ukrainian referee Serhiy Boiko, who will bring his international career to a close on the occasion of the match in Athens. Moreover, Podeschi is fresh from his recent experience at the Under-17 European Qualifying Tournament held in Bosnia, which from 24 to 30 October featured the youth national teams of Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein, as well as, of course, the hosts.
