National activity
A weekend to forget for the Under 15 and Under 17 of San Marino Academy, the only boys’ youth sides involved in national competitions yesterday. It was a double derby against Cesena’s peers, both ending clearly in favour of the Romagna side. Magnani’s Giovanissimi, behind after 6 minutes due to Berti’s strike, immediately hit back through Protti. The Bianconeri then opened up a gap with two further goals by Berti, closing the first half at 3-1. After the restart, Lantignotti, Mingarini and Liverani stretched the lead to 6-1. An own goal by Mingarini, from a wide free-kick, brought the second goal for San Marino; it was Bertaccini, scoring on 69 minutes, who sealed the final 7-2. The same goal difference, but with one goal fewer apiece, in the clash between the National Allievi of San Marino Academy and Cesena. Masolini’s boys scored three times in each half, going in front with Tamai’s quickfire brace inside five minutes, before Guidi’s strike on the stroke of half-time. In the second half, the one-two was signed by Ghinelli and Amadori, before the consolation goal from Michelucci and Coveri’s late finish at the death for the final 6-1.Regional and provincial activity
All three Esordienti teams were in action between Friday and Saturday. First onto the pitch were the San Marino Academy (B) boys, who went down 3-1 in Spadarolo to River Delfini (3-0, 3-2, 2-1, shoot-out: 14-22) despite a brace from Maiani and a goal from Gianani. In the game with Academy Cattolica, San Marino Academy (A) drew 3-3 but were less clinical in the technical games (1-1, 0-0, 1-0, shoot-out: 16-20); the San Marino goals came from Di Maiani and Giulio Giorgetti. No joy, finally, for the Under 13 PRO, who faced Bologna (A) at the Pallavicini: the Rossoblù came out on top in all the periods of play, also confirming their superiority in the technical part (3-0, 3-0, 2-, shoot-out: 23-13). The Under 14 PRO coached by Mastini were in action in Imola, losing 2-0 at the Bacchilega; Imolese only needed Diego Ruffino’s first-half brace. At Provincial Giovanissimi level, there was a draw for Baschetti’s boys and a defeat in San Giovanni in Marignano for Baschetti’s A/9 side. In Accademia Marignanese’s win, there were braces from Spezi and Croce plus a goal from Cavani. For the Academy, the temporary 3-1 goal was scored by Nicholas Bacciocchi. There was one goal in each half instead in the meeting between Piselli’s team and their ASAR counterparts: San Marino went in front through Nicolini on 23 minutes, before Frati levelled matters shortly after the midway point of the second half. With the postponement of the game between Del Conca and the Provincial Allievi, the boys’ youth programme was rounded off by the Regional Juniores side coached by Venerucci, narrowly beaten by Polisportiva Stella. The goal that gave victory to the Rimini Gialloblù was scored by Buratti in the 12th minute of the second half.WOMEN’S SECTION
The Women’s Primavera match between Lazio and San Marino Academy has been postponed to 10 April due to the call-ups of the Zaghini twins and Berveglieri to Italy’s Under 17 squad, who are about to start their European qualifying campaign in Portugal. Regularly in action instead were the Giovanissime and Allieve – both victorious. It was a first success in the Gold Group for Katia Cerea’s Under 17 side. In the 3-2 win over Piacenza, the goals were scored by Fraternali, Pasquini Buldrini and Giannotti. The derby played in Faetano between San Marino Academy and Riccione even finished in double figures, with Piva and Pasquinelli’s Titane running out 12-0 winners. Stealing the show was Elisa Terenzi, who found the net nine times. Completing the rich scoring sheet were Balsimelli, Yazici and Zamparini.FUTSAL SECTION
With the men’s U21 side on a rest day, the only San Marino Academy futsal team to play yesterday was the Women’s A2. The Titane were chasing a win that would have put them in a very safe position with regard to the play-out zone, especially after Arzachena’s lunchtime victory over Bagnolo. In the match at Don Pippo against Top Five, Pini’s players started strongly, breaking the deadlock after just ten seconds through Cabrera. Guidice’s second goal on 18 minutes seemed to herald a comfortable afternoon for San Marino Academy, who, however, still had to reckon with Pellegrinelli. The Academy used up their foul bonus just seconds before half-time and from the resulting 10-metre spot the captain reopened a match that, incredibly, would end in favour of the Piedmont side. Shortly before the half-hour mark, from the penalty spot, and then with 37 seconds left on the clock, Pellegrinelli completed her personal hat-trick from dead-ball situations with the free-kick that also puts Top Five right back in the race for direct safety. A scenario that the Academy hope to avoid in their next game with Bagnolo, second from bottom and just five points behind, one more than the Turin side. With four rounds to go, Pini’s team cannot afford to slip up in this six-pointer if they are to chase an objective they have shown to be within their reach.Under 15 Serie C, Matchday 14 | San Marino Academy-Cesena 2-7 SAN MARINO ACADEMY Casadei (from 47' F.
