The Football Federation joins in heartfelt mourning for the passing of Don Peppino

The San Marino Football Federation mourns the loss of a pillar of the sporting and football movement of the Republic of San Marino. Don Giuseppe Innocentini, known to everyone simply as Don Peppino, passed away in recent hours at the age of 95. A true point of reference for the Serravalle community, where he had served as parish priest since 1953, he also left a tangible mark on the Sammarinese sporting landscape. He immediately promoted the foundation of the then Società Sportiva Juvenes, of which he was President for many years, introducing hundreds of young compatriots to numerous sports – including football – over more than 70 years. The FSGC also fondly remembers the occasions when his commitment and that of the Federation drew particularly close, including the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Oscar during Calcio Estate 2013, and the cooperation that led to the installation of a synthetic grass pitch at the Colonia Montana di Chiusi della Verna (AR), which bears his name. Alongside his priestly service and sport, this was his other great passion, united by the common goal of bringing Sammarinese people – especially young people – closer to a healthy and virtuous lifestyle. During the matchday 24 fixture of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese between Juvenes-Dogana and Tre Fiori, a minute’s silence will be observed before kick-off to honour the memory of Don Peppino.
