Revamped formats for Campionato Sammarinese and Titano Futsal Cup

Sammarinese futsal competitions are set for an overhaul in terms of how teams qualify for the finals that award the trophies. The Sammarinese Futsal Super Cup remains unchanged, and will again be contested by the league champions (Murata, based on last season) and the holders of the Titano Futsal Cup (Virtus, as cup finalists following the Bianconeri’s double).

While the regular season of the 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal will keep its current format, with home-and-away fixtures between all registered teams, the route to the play-offs will change significantly. It will be the top eight teams in the table that will battle for the title, following a pre-defined bracket reflecting the following pairings – as set out in the derogation to the Regulations published in Official Communication No. 79 of last 1 June:

CAMPIONATO SAMMARINESE DI FUTSAL | PLAY-OFFS
STAGE TEAM TEAM FORMAT
QF/A 1st place 8th place TWO-LEGGED
QF/B 2nd place 7th place TWO-LEGGED
QF/C 3rd place 6th place TWO-LEGGED
QF/D 4th place 5th place TWO-LEGGED
SF/1 Winner QF/A Winner QF/D TWO-LEGGED
SF/2 Winner QF/B Winner QF/C TWO-LEGGED
3rd-4th Loser SF/1 Loser SF/2 ONE-LEG
Final Winner SF/1 Winner SF/2 ONE-LEG

With the exception of the two finals, all preceding rounds will be played over two legs, home and away. If the aggregate score is level at the end of the second leg, extra time will be played to decide which team advances. There will be no penalty shoot-out: if the tie is still level after extra-time, the team that finished higher in the regular season will progress. The two finals, which are single matches, will feature extra time and, if required, a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

Following last season’s innovation with the introduction of the Final Eight, the Titano Futsal Cup is now ready to introduce a new feature in the preceding stage – named the Preliminary Round. No longer subject to a draw, it will instead be determined on the basis of the standings at the end of the first half of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal regular season. A sufficient number of clubs will qualify directly for the Final Eight so that – via the Preliminary Round – the eight-team bracket can be completed. Teams involved in the Preliminary Round will play single-leg knockout ties, with pairings based on the league table in the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal (the highest-ranked side against the lowest, the second-highest against the second-lowest, and so on). If the match is level after normal time, extra time and, if necessary, penalties will be used to determine the winner.

Once the eight teams qualified for the Final Eight have been confirmed, the bracket will be finalised according to the standings at the end of the first half of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal. This means that each team keeps the ranking position with which it entered, even if it knocks out an opponent that finished significantly higher in the table. Ranking the eight qualifiers according to this order, the predetermined pairings will be as follows:

TITANO FUTSAL CUP | FINAL EIGHT
STAGE TEAM TEAM FORMAT
QF/A 1st place 8th place ONE-LEG
QF/B 2nd place 7th place ONE-LEG
QF/C 3rd place 6th place ONE-LEG
QF/D 4th place 5th place ONE-LEG
SF/1 Winner QF/A Winner QF/D ONE-LEG
SF/2 Winner QF/B Winner QF/C ONE-LEG
Final Winner SF/1 Winner SF/2 ONE-LEG

As in the Preliminary Round of the competition, extra time and penalties will be played at the end of normal time in every match – where needed to determine progression to the next round or the title winners.
