FSGC assessing every option to ensure football activities run more smoothly
Taking its cue from the recent statements made by the President of Victor San Marino, Luca Della Balda, the FSGC wishes to confirm not only that relations with the club and its management are more than positive – as underlined by Della Balda himself – but also that Victor San Marino is indeed being given full consideration by the Football Federation. After all, if Victor San Marino has so far played every home match in the Eccellenza championship, as well as in the Coppa Italia Minetti, at the Acquaviva ground, this is certainly not because there were no other teams that could potentially have played matches at that facility.
The issue of facility availability is, in fact, far from new as a topic of discussion and, in this respect, the FSGC can only agree with Della Balda’s remarks regarding the very limited number of facilities on the territory. Anyone with even a basic knowledge of football activities within San Marino’s borders is aware that the number of stadiums available to host national and international fixtures is very small – to use an understatement. Furthermore, the very recent unavailability of the Montegiardino sports ground, due to structural issues, only exacerbates a shared problem that has long been known to the FSGC.
The fifteen clubs affiliated to the San Marino Football Federation, together with the men’s and women’s youth teams (just under twenty active this season, not to mention the afternoon activities of the grassroots football hubs), are having to share the same facility for midweek training – every afternoon and every evening, from Monday to Friday. Their willingness and ability to adapt by training on half a pitch each can only be acknowledged with gratitude and praise. That said, the FSGC is assessing every possible option, both within San Marino and beyond, to ensure that football activities under its responsibility are conducted in the best possible way, in line with its role as organiser, promoter and guarantor.
