FSGC and NTS together for 4 years: new playing surfaces in Fiorentino
The Stadio Federico Crescentini in Fiorentino now boasts a new synthetic pitch. The work, completed in record time and entrusted to New Tennis System, has seen the previous artificial surface replaced with a brand-new one. As was the case last year in Montecchio, the refurbishment of the artificial pitches was completed in good time to allow San Marino clubs to resume activity in line with their respective build-up schedules ahead of official matches in September. And it is not only football that will benefit. In fact, the same surface installed at the Federico Crescentini has also been laid on the adjacent futsal pitch – one of the venues for matches in the Campionato Sammarinese and the Titano Futsal Cup, as well as for almost all the play-offs in both competitions and the Futsal Supercup.

The long-planned intervention involved the supply and installation of a performance shock pad in 10-millimetre-thick polyethylene. The tailor-made underlay was produced to measure, adapted to the specific dimensions of the pitch. "The main characteristic of the shock pad,” explains NTS Sport Chief Operating Officer Dario Delcarro, “is its high dimensional stability over time, thanks to the ‘XC CUT’ technology, which compensates for the expansion and contraction of the expanded material during and after installation, caused by temperature fluctuations and use of the sports surface." As for the surface itself, the artificial turf is produced using ECO-NEXT technology, 100% polyethylene: "As well as offering better tufting look parameters and drainage than traditional surfaces, it makes the surface fully recyclable at the end of its life. A further advantage of surfaces made with ECO-NEXT technology,” Delcarro continues, “is their ability to retain micro-particles, preventing them from dispersing into the environment, and their capacity to absorb up to 10% more water than traditional surfaces, ensuring a gradual release that helps to improve surface temperature."
The relationship between the San Marino Football Federation and New Tennis System is becoming even closer and more synergistic from this season onwards, going well beyond the laying and installation of the turf itself. The Lombardy-based company, which has been active in the sports facilities sector for over thirty years, has signed a four-year maintenance contract with the FSGC. This will make it possible to monitor the evolution of the surfaces step by step and to carry out all necessary operations to ensure they consistently offer maximum performance and reliability.
