FSGC increasingly active and up to date on Child Safeguarding
Today, Thursday 20 November, is World Children’s Day and the FSGC, always highly attentive to the protection of children’s rights, has chosen this very day to announce two important initiatives that have recently involved, and continue to involve, the federation very closely on this front. The first dates back to 13 and 14 November, when Andrea Zoppis, Child Safeguarding Focal Point of the San Marino Football Federation, took part in the UEFA Child and Youth Protection Workshop held at the Brøndby Stadium, not far from Copenhagen. The event, which brought together Zoppis’s counterparts from all UEFA member associations, featured contributions – among others – from Michele Uva (UEFA Executive Director S&E Sustainability), Laura McCallister (UEFA Vice-President) and Sara Baaring, a member of the Danish Parliament with responsibility for early childhood education. The second initiative pursued by the FSGC on the subject of child protection is the official establishment of the first Child Safeguarding Steering Group, an internal committee made up of experts in football safeguarding and in the training of male and female youth coaches and players, as well as a psychologist and a legal expert. This committee will be responsible for assessing all the necessary steps to create the best possible framework between the Federation, affiliated clubs and State bodies to prevent and respond to any form of abuse – involving minors or adults – within the San Marino football system.
