Fuorigioco claim the 2022 Special Cup

It is the Mantua-based side Fuorigioco that lifted the 2022 Special Cup to the sky over Montecchio, as the tournament reached its fifth edition. The event, reserved for Special Olympics athletes, once again delivered a full dose of energy and fun for all ten teams entered in this fifth edition – as usual co-organised by the San Marino Football Federation and the Federazione Sport Speciali di San Marino. After a Saturday dedicated to the qualifying phase and enriched by a convivial moment attended by Their Excellencies the Captains Regent H.E. Oscar Mina and H.E. Paolo Rondelli, yesterday morning was devoted to the finals. Fuorigioco ODV claimed the title, defeating the Ligurian side Insuperabili 3-0. Third place went to the Reggio Emilia team Sportinsieme Castellarano, who got the better of Empoli Integra Sport. San Marino were edged out by Albano Primavera in the match for fifth place. Finishing behind the Titans, in order, were Rimini, Sport "In" Veneto, ASD Calcio Veneto and Polisportiva Olimpia. Beyond the final standings, what took place last weekend in Montecchio was a celebration of football in its highest values, marked by enjoyment and friendship – with that charge of competitive spirit that is never lacking when sport is involved. The event, which is part of the activities linked to the FSGC’s social responsibility projects, returned after a two-year break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
