Futsal, Championship: Domagnano and Virtus share the spoils, Cailungo celebrate
In one of the headline clashes of Matchday 24 of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, Domagnano and Virtus end all square. Manuel Mussoni’s Wolves start the contest on the front foot, taking the lead in the first half from a free-kick by Lorenzo Bollini. However, Luca Pollini’s Neroverdi refuse to give in and just minutes from time they grab a precious equaliser through Marco Pazzaglia. Nothing changes in the table: the Acquaviva side stay fifth, one point clear of Domagnano.
Tre Fiori strengthen their grip on third place with a fifth consecutive win, at the expense of Cosmos, who are forced to halt their excellent run of four straight victories. The Gialloblu break the deadlock late in the first half through Michael Simoncini. After the restart, Alex Bugli’s men double their advantage thanks to Paolo Verri, but Cosmos respond immediately as Davide Zafferani pulls one back. Late on there is a big chance for Federico Muccioli’s Gialloverdi from a 10-metre penalty, but Alberto Bologna passes up the opportunity to level. Deep into stoppage time, the contest is definitively closed at 3-1 to Tre Fiori by Lorenzo Cecchini. Despite the defeat, Cosmos remain in a comfortable position that secures them a place in the post-season.
By contrast, yet another Folgore victory almost ceases to be news, as they move top of the table for the night, awaiting this evening’s late fixture at the Multieventi between Tre Penne and Fiorentino (21:30). Max Spada’s side hit double figures against San Giovanni: Michele Ercolani and Massimiliano Bernardi open the scoring, before a timid reaction from the Rossoneri as Emanuele Giglietti reduces the deficit. A brace from Thomas Pellegrini and a goal from Pasqualini, though, send Folgore into the break 5-1 up. After the restart the script does not change: the Giallorossoneri score five more, with Pellegrini (two more goals for a personal four-goal haul), Bernardi again (brace) and Ercolani (hat-trick, despite a missed penalty in the 33rd minute). Manuel Macina’s late goal is little consolation for San Giovanni, who with this defeat would remain outside the playoff places. The race for the post-season, however, is still wide open, as both Murata and Libertas, sitting a few points above Davide Gualtieri’s side, had to give way last night to Pennarossa and Juvenes-Dogana respectively.
Mattia Casadei’s Biancorossi in fact overcame the Bianconeri 5-3. Alessandro Podeschi puts his side in front early on, then an own goal by Lorenzo Conti brings Murata back into it. The parity is short-lived, though, as Manuel Poggiali restores Pennarossa’s lead before the interval. In the second half Nicola Albani – shortly after team-mate Francesco Beinat is sent off – scores the temporary equaliser, but Pennarossa refuse to settle and cut loose, with Davide D'Alessandro, Alberto Bacciocchi and Lorenzo Conti wrapping up the contest. It is a second straight victory for the Biancorossi, who now find themselves in calm waters, eighth and firmly in the playoff zone. Libertas, on the other hand, squander a two-goal lead and are pegged back by Juvenes-Dogana. Roberto Penserini’s side start at full throttle and go two up thanks to Filippo Burioni and Mattia Mazza. Right at the end of the half, a crucial goal for Claudio Zonzini’s team as Alessandro Muccioli halves the arrears. In the second half, the Dogana side draw level from the penalty spot, with Francesco Gatti who shortly afterwards completes the comeback with the final 3-2 goal. Juvenes-Dogana halt their negative streak and remain steady in seventh place. Cailungo also celebrate, with a second win in their last five, thanks to an 8-2 success over a Faetano side in full-blown crisis. Michele Bollini’s men make a flying start, scoring four times in the space of just a few minutes: Roberto Rossini, Elia Venerucci (twice) and Nicola Moroni put the Rossoverdi firmly in control. Shortly before the break comes a fifth through Jacopo Gamba, then an own goal by Romano Zanotti keeps the Gialloblu in touch before half-time. Cailungo, though, keep their composure and in the second half strike again through Venerucci (who completes his hat-trick), Michele Sabatino and Gamba once more. Bacciocchi pulls one back, but it is nowhere near enough for Faetano to avoid yet another defeat. Cailungo can therefore celebrate, despite still sitting bottom of the table.
