Futsal Champions League: Mattioli brace not enough as Murata fall to Ujpest
The scoring in Murata’s opening match of the UEFA Futsal Champions League Preliminary Round begins after just 17 seconds: Hadzsi exchanges with Cardoso and beats Delvecchio from a metre out. A pinpoint low strike from Czerman makes it two-goal cushion for Ujpest, the hosts of Group D. Delvecchio repeatedly keeps out the 3-0, which however arrives on 16 minutes, when Rutai spots Czerman at the far post and puts a gift on a plate for him to turn into his second of the night. Mattioli goes centimetres wide, capitalising on Ujpest’s imperfect use of the flying goalkeeper. The Hungarians nonetheless persist with their strategy and find their fourth goal on the stroke of half-time through Pál. After the restart Murata come out on the front foot, but it is once again the home side who change the scoreline. Rutai turns and beats Delvecchio with a wicked right-footed effort. The Murata keeper redeems himself superbly with saves on Vas and Rutai, but he cannot prevent the sixth, seventh and eighth goals, which follow in quick succession: a left-footed free-kick from Pál and two close-range finishes from Moreira, both laid on by Suscsák. Murata, however, refuse to leave without landing at least a few blows of their own. They succeed twice through Mattioli, both times with left-footed strikes from distance: the first a deceptive toe-poke, the second a masterpiece of power and precision, the ball kissing the top corner before dropping into the net. In the meantime, Suscsák also completes his brace; at the other end, Gémesi produces a fine save to deny Cesarini and stands tall again to thwart Belloni. Ujpest reach double figures with another from Suscsák (turn and unstoppable shot) and finally break through once more with an unfortunate deflection off Gasperoni on a ball driven across by Szalmás. In the final minute Mikai is shown a straight red card, but the numerical disadvantage does not trouble the Magyars. Today, for the San Marino champions, comes the second fixture of the mini-tournament against Kosovo’s Drita.
