Futsal Champions League: Murata to play in Hungary at the end of August

Late this morning, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, the draw for the Preliminary Round and Main Round of the 2026-27 UEFA Futsal Champions League was completed. João Matos – the legendary captain of Sporting CP, who recently retired from professional football – placed Murata in Group D of the Preliminary Round. A delegation from the black-and-white club was able to note down the venue and opponents for the mini-tournament, which is expected to be played between 25 and 30 August 2026. Hosts will be Hungary’s Újpest FC. Alongside them, Murata will also face Kosovo side Drenica Futsal and Turkey’s Sakarya Karasu 1933 SK. At stake is a place in the Main Round: whoever comes out on top will be grouped with Kauno Žalgiris, FC Differdange 03 and the winners of Group F of the Preliminary Round. Last year the Bianconeri came close to a feat, recording two wins and a narrow defeat in a group ultimately won by FORCA.
