Futsal Championship: Folgore out in front, Virtus and Faetano keep pace
While waiting for Thursday’s late fixture between Fiorentino and Tre Fiori, Max Spada’s Folgore stand alone at the top of the San Marino futsal league table. Matchday three, played last night, saw a third consecutive win for the giallorossoneri, who brushed aside Libertas 6-2: first half ending 4-1 thanks to goals from Matteo Chezzi (brace), Massimiliano Bernardi and an own goal by Mattia Mazza. For the granata, Francesco Rossi scored in first-half stoppage time and then again at the start of the second half, but an own goal by Davide Rossi and a strike from Mirko Giardi wrapped things up.
Both Faetano and Virtus are trying to keep pace with Folgore, each winning their respective clashes. The gialloblù beat Tre Penne 3-1 thanks to goals from Giacomo Bacciocchi, Marco Moroni and Fabrizio Amati. For the biancoazzurri, who scored through Tommy Fantini, this is a third defeat in a row. The neroverdi, meanwhile, edged out Murata thanks to a second-half goal from Marco Pazzaglia, handing the bianconeri their first defeat of the campaign.
Juvenes-Dogana also stay perfect, having already put together two wins from two matches after sitting out the opening round. The second came last night in the Serravalle derby against Cosmos. Jacopo Giardi opened the scoring early on, with Cosmos reduced to ten men midway through the first half after Michele Casadei was sent off. In the second half, a 55th-minute goal from Federico Costantini doubled the lead for Claudio Zonzini’s side, who then conceded a consolation strike from Matteo Iuliani in stoppage time. Cosmos are still searching for their first league win.
As expected, it was a tight contest between Domagnano and La Fiorita, which finished 2-2: La Fiorita went ahead through Jacopo Giuccioli on 16 minutes, before Lorenzo Bollini levelled in the 25th. After the break, La Fiorita went back in front through Thomas Felici (38'), then came the sending-off of Giacomo Bernardi on 45 minutes and the ensuing equaliser from Manuel Bollini (47'). It is a first draw of the season for the Wolves, while La Fiorita remain unbeaten and move on to five points.
In the lower reaches of the table, there was a first win for San Giovanni, who beat Cailungo in a goal-filled, emotional encounter. The match started with two goals in as many minutes: first Jacopo Gamba scored for the rossoverdi, then Michele Giacobbi equalised. The pair were on target again, with the Cailungo player putting his side ahead on 12 minutes, only for the San Giovanni man to respond to his opponent’s brace by netting the leveller himself in the 38th minute of the second half. The winning goal, worth all three points, came from Alberto Volpinari on 43 minutes.
As mentioned, matchday three will be completed by the derby between Fiorentino and Tre Fiori, scheduled for Thursday 20 at 21:15 in Fiorentino. Pennarossa have the week off.
