Futsal: the Championship takes over Tuesday night

All fourteen teams involved in matchday twenty of the 2022-23 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal will be on court on Tuesday evening. San Giovanni have a rest round and will be watching Murata-Cosmos with particular interest. Level on 13 points, alongside Tre Penne and Rossoneri, both are chasing vital points to move clear of twelfth place. In the following fixture, scheduled in Fiorentino, Domagnano and Faetano will go head to head. Back in action after their calendar-imposed break, Corbelli’s Gialloblù will test the Lupi, who in their last three outings have only managed to win the home game against San Giovanni. It goes without saying that Tre Fiori and La Fiorita were hardly the ideal opponents with whom to start a positive run. Even so, Faetano cannot afford to leave any stone unturned and – as the current second-bottom side – have a duty to try to make up ground on those ahead, especially considering that six teams are packed into the space of just three points. At the other end of this group sit Pennarossa and Cailungo. Bollini’s Rossoverdi are bottom, seven points adrift of Faetano and, more generally, nine points off the play-off spots. With ten games still to play, Cailungo are being asked to pull off a monumental feat. It is true that their next opponents are not going through the brightest spell of their season, but the idea of overtaking three sides in this period, with 30 points on offer and nine to make up, looks a very tall order. This will be the only game scheduled in Domagnano, kicking off at 21:15. On the artificial surface in Dogana comes one of the most intriguing match-ups in terms of the table. Certainly the one that promises the greatest balance. Juvenes-Dogana and La Fiorita will meet from 20:15, with the aim of closing in on the points tally needed for third place. With Folgore and Fiorentino now out of reach as they power away together at the top, the rest are battling for the best possible positions with a view to the post-season. Juvenes-Dogana, fresh from the exertions of the Titano Futsal Cup derby, could strongly relaunch their bid for third place with a win. Zonzini’s men are, in fact, the only ones among the leading group to have already served their rest round. On the other side, La Fiorita are looking to leapfrog Virtus, who face the daunting task of taking on Folgore. Folgore will be in action at the same time as the other leaders, Fiorentino. Both kicking off at 21:45, they will provide another chapter in the fascinating long-distance duel that everyone expects to see continue on warmer nights with trophies on the line. In the meantime, the Rossoblù will meet Libertas in Dogana, while Folgore – as mentioned – take on Virtus on the artificial surface in Acquaviva. Unbeaten in their last five matches, Pollini’s men can boast the best form of the chasing pack, excluding the two leaders. It is a real maturity test for the Neroverdi, who nonetheless start as underdogs. Here is the full programme for matchday twenty of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal:
