Futsal Cup: Fiorentino and Folgore meet again in the final on 9 May

Once again it will be a showdown between Fiorentino and Folgore to decide a trophy in the San Marino futsal landscape. It is the second title of the season, after the Supercup, which went the way of the Falciano club on 26 September. The two teams are now less than a week away from a new final: on Thursday 9 May, at the Multieventi, the sides coached by Michelotti and Zonzini will face off for the Titano Futsal Cup. The kick-off time for the midweek evening is still to be confirmed. Fresh from their 4-0 win in the first leg against La Fiorita, Fiorentino were able to manage the return match, played last night at 21:45 outdoor on the artificial pitch next to the "Federico Crescentini" stadium. The match referee was Latvian official Jacevics, as part of the Futsal Referee Exchange project. In the first half it was La Fiorita who took the lead, thanks to a Busignani own goal. The all-rounder made amends halfway through the second half, levelling the score at 1-1. Parity was broken in the 49th minute by Gasperoni, restoring La Fiorita’s lead, but they were unable to see out the win – which would in any case have been irrelevant in terms of qualification. In fact, with time expired it was Mattia Protti, pushed forward as flying goalkeeper, who found the net for the final 2-2. The other tie, between Folgore and Tre Fiori, resumed from a perfectly balanced position after the 3-3 draw in the first leg. After the 60 minutes of the return match, however, it was Folgore who emerged as winners, beating the Gialloblù 3-1. In the first half it was Thomas Pellegrini who broke the deadlock in favour of the Falciano club, who then doubled their lead on 40 minutes through Juri Biordi. In the 51st minute Tassitano’s strike effectively sealed qualification for the Titano Futsal Cup final, which was not put in doubt by Lorenzo Burioni’s goal – the 3-1 for Tre Fiori. Officiating the match was Kozlovs of the Latvian Referees’ Association. In this week of international referee exchanges, D’Adamo and Lerza have been in Malta, appointed to a semi-final of the national championship play-offs.
