Futsal Cup: two derbies to decide the finalists, first-leg semi-finals tomorrow
Between football and futsal, midweek action will be all about the cup. This evening sees the second-leg semi-finals of the Coppa Titano BKN301 and tomorrow evening the first-leg semi-finals of the Titano Futsal Cup. In the latter, the two spots in the final will be decided by two local derbies. Folgore entered the draw only at the quarter-final stage as defending champions and, after a rather clear-cut win over Cailungo, will be chasing another final in a two-legged tie against Juvenes-Dogana, who in turn arrive at this "semi" after knocking out Domagnano and Virtus in succession – both direct rivals in the league race for fourth place. All four semi-final matches will be played in Fiorentino, the venue for every game at this stage. After the Serravalle derby, it will be Fiorentino’s turn to heat up a Thursday – forecast to be very cold – entirely dedicated to the cup. Here too, one of the league’s leading sides will be in action: if Folgore approach the cup as reigning champions, that is no longer the case for Fiorentino, determined to reclaim as soon as possible the title they last held in 2018-19. Michelotti’s men booked their semi-final place by eliminating Pennarossa, having previously done the same to San Giovanni. Tre Fiori, who have recently consolidated third place in the league and in the cup have overcome Murata and Libertas, will try to inflict the first disappointment of the season on their “cousins”, who, like Folgore, have been close to perfect so far. Fiorentino goalkeeper Andrea Bollini is suspended.
