Futsal: Domagnano go top after early fixtures
Domagnano have given themselves at least twenty-four hours at the summit of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal table. The Wolves edged out reigning champions Fiorentino in the second match scheduled last night in Dogana. Blow for blow in the first half, with the Giallorossi twice in front through Filippo Dolcini and Santarini, only to be pegged back on both occasions by Felici and Baizan. It was a tense encounter, marked by a red card for each side: the way the power plays were managed proved decisive, as Domagnano kept a clean sheet during the two minutes of numerical inferiority following Santarini’s dismissal. Very different was the impact of Geri’s sending-off, which allowed the Wolves to make the extra man count and score in the first minute of added time. The three points lift Domagnano above Virtus and Murata, who are in action tonight and tomorrow respectively.
Pennarossa move up to fourth after sweeping aside Faetano 8-1. The Biancorossi did everything themselves, for better and for worse. It took an entire half, however, to break the deadlock: right at the end of the 30th minute came the first of three goals in a row from Verri – who struck again in the early stages of the second half. Faetano pulled one back via a Toccaceli own goal, but two minutes later he made amends by making it 4-1. From there to the final whistle, Novembrini’s side added as many more goals, with further strikes from Toccaceli, as well as Stefanelli, Baldani and Colonna.
The other three matches were far more evenly balanced, producing wins for Juvenes-Dogana, Folgore and Cailungo. Venerucci’s Rossoverdi came out on top in a thrilling derby with Libertas. Taddei and Rossini scored in the initial 1-1, before Gabriele Taddei again put the Granata ahead before the interval. In the second half a Marinelli own goal restored parity, leaving the outcome to be decided right at the death – where Cailungo edged it. Moroni and Flammini seemed to put the result beyond doubt, although the indomitable Taddei – who completed his hat-trick – kept Libertas in it, albeit only as far as the goalscoring charts are concerned.
Juvenes-Dogana’s victory over Tre Fiori was also sealed in the closing stages. The first half ended 1-1 thanks to Bologna’s opener and Crescentini’s reply. After a balanced second half, the fireworks came in the final ten minutes: three goals in the space of two minutes, with Pari and Zonzini sending Juvenes-Dogana narrowly in front, either side of Tamagnini’s temporary 2-2. It was then Jacopo Pari’s brace, completed on 59 minutes, that finally settled it.
Folgore, meanwhile, returned to winning ways after taking just one point from their previous three outings. Zonzini’s men struck at the beginning and end of the first half, taking the lead after 5 minutes through Bacciocchi, before doubling their advantage on 30 minutes thanks to Michele Ercolani. The same San Marino winger later missed a 10-metre free-kick two minutes from time, but it proved inconsequential. Tre Penne drew a blank, slipping to a second league defeat of the season and missing the chance to temporarily move level in second place with Penserini’s side.
