Futsal: double relegation six-pointer on Monday as the leaders take a break
The entire schedule for Matchday 22 of the San Marino Futsal Championship will be played on Monday. No late fixtures and no indoor match on a matchday in which the league leaders will be idle, giving Folgore the chance to temporarily close the gap at the top. Zonzini’s side, fresh from a convincing derby win over Juvenes-Dogana, are aiming to repeat against a Virtus team coming off a defeat and unable to afford further slip-ups, at the risk of losing even more ground on the key positions – namely the top four. La Fiorita are still firmly among the Fab Four but, having conceded a late equaliser against Murata, they need to bounce back to keep Tre Fiori – now just one point behind the Montegiardino outfit – at a safe distance. For the latter, the Matchday 22 assignment comes against Tre Penne in their traditional white and light blue colours. Tre Penne have closed back in on Domagnano after two consecutive wins and are more determined than ever to continue their climb into the top half of the table, despite the difficulty of this round’s fixture. On the same pitch in Fiorentino, Tre Fiori and Libertas will meet in the late game. As mentioned, Bugli’s side have closed the gap on La Fiorita – that is, on third place – and their current goal can only be to climb onto the podium, while also hoping for a misstep from their rivals. On the other side, Libertas are sitting comfortably in mid-table and, above all, riding the wave of three wins in a row, which have allowed Penserini’s men to close in on Tre Penne’s position. In Dogana, Juvenes-Dogana will play their second straight derby after the one with Folgore. Two consecutive defeats have set off a small alarm bell in the red, white and light blue camp. But Cosmos are also going through a rough patch, with three losses in a row. Both Levani’s and Muccioli’s teams are eager to respond: the former determined to keep their place ahead of Domagnano, the latter needing to find some calm again, given the looming presence, just one and three points behind, of Pennarossa and Cailungo. The good news for Cosmos is that their direct rivals will face each other tomorrow. Cailungo will try to pick up the thread of wins (two in a row) that was snapped by the defeat to Tre Penne; Pennarossa are looking for a victory that has been missing for four games. It was precisely against the Chiesanuova side that San Giovanni ended a very long drought, but to get back into the race for the post-season they need to keep collecting points. The opportunity looks promising for Corbelli’s men, who are up against the only team sitting below them in the table, namely Faetano, still stuck on a single win this season. Rounding off the seventh matchday of the second half of the season is the clash between Domagnano and Murata, the only game scheduled for 21:15. The Wolves are coming off their bye week and, before that, a defeat to Libertas that stalled their progress, temporarily dropping them into the bottom half of the standings. The Bianconeri are unbeaten in two and intend to ride the momentum of the last-gasp draw earned in extremis against La Fiorita, also counting on the form of Matteo Moretti, who is coming off a personal four-goal haul against the Gialloblù.
