Futsal: Both league leaders in action in Domagnano

Matchday nine of the San Marino Futsal Championship kicks off tomorrow evening with five fixtures, before the round is completed between Tuesday and Thursday.

Monday’s schedule gets under way at 20:15 in Domagnano with the clash between Juvenes Dogana and Pennarossa. The latter return to action after their rest day, aiming to resume their march and try to reclaim top spot on their own. For the side from Dogana it will be an important test to measure their ambitions and attempt to make up ground in the standings, with the need to get back to picking up points. Also at 20:15, but at Fiorentino, Virtus will face Folgore. This is one of the most eagerly awaited contests of the evening, with two teams set to meet in a match that could have a major impact on the balance at the top end of the table. Folgore come into it on the back of a comfortable win in the last round, a result that underlined the attacking potential of the Giallorossoneri. Virtus, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat that extends a rather inconsistent spell for Michelotti’s side. Two teams who so far have followed a very similar path, ready to battle it out until the very last second. The following encounter, again at Fiorentino at 21:45, will see San Giovanni take on Libertas. The Granata arrive with three wins on the spin and are looking for another convincing performance to consolidate their hold on fourth place. San Giovanni, by contrast, are called on to react after conceding double figures in their last outing, seeking answers both in terms of their play and their defensive solidity. At the same time in Domagnano, Faetano will face Murata in a match that looks particularly demanding for Matteo Selva’s side. The Gialloblù will have to cope without three suspended players, including goalkeeper Pietro Rastelli and Yuri Rossi, the team’s top scorer with six goals to his name. Absences that could weigh heavily on the match, especially against a Murata side that once again this year are targeting the very top positions and currently share first place with Pennarossa. Rounding off Monday’s programme, at 22:00 at the Multieventi, will be the meeting between Cailungo and Tre Fiori. It pits two teams currently occupying places in the bottom three. The Rossoverdi are chasing points to turn their season around and still seeking their first win in the competition, while the Gialloblù are looking for consistency but will be without their captain, suspended in the last round.

On Tuesday evening the round continues with Cosmos v La Fiorita, scheduled for 22:00 at the Palestra di Acquaviva. Cosmos need to respond after a heavy defeat last time out, but must contend with the best attack in the competition, that of La Fiorita. It is a meeting between two ambitious sides, both seeking points to give fresh impetus to their season.

Matchday nine will conclude on Thursday, when at 22:00, again at the Palestra di Acquaviva, Tre Penne and Fiorentino will contest the final fixture of the round. The match will offer both sides the chance to consolidate their progress and collect precious points at a stage of the championship where every result can make a difference. It is also a fixture being followed with particular interest by Domagnano, who have their rest day: the winners, in fact, will leapfrog the Wolves in the table.
