Futsal: Fiorentino and Folgore hit double figures, Juvenes-Dogana back up to seventh
There is only one change in the standings of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal after the fixtures of Matchday 17. Domagnano once again surrender seventh place to Juvenes-Dogana following the Wolves’ defeat to Tre Fiori and the win for Levani’s side at the expense of Cailungo. Otherwise, the hierarchy remains unchanged. In fact, aside from the Juvenes-Dogana–Domagnano switch, the top half of the table further extends its cushion over the bottom half on a matchday that featured several direct clashes between teams from the upper group and teams from the lower group. For example, leaders Fiorentino have no trouble dealing with San Giovanni, who are forced to concede a double-digit scoreline for the second game running. Yet the first advantage is actually for the red-and-blacks, who break the deadlock on 4 minutes through Macina. Zafferani replies almost immediately, then scores again just a few minutes later. Between the 14th and 20th minute, Busignani’s hat-trick blows the gap wide open, which grows even larger before half-time thanks to further goals from Zafferani and again Busignani. The second half is opened by Cevoli, followed on the scoresheet by Ceccoli and Gabrieli from the spot. Zafferani and Busignani cap their outstanding, inspirational evenings with – respectively – one and two further goals each (for personal totals of four and six). In between, a small consolation for San Giovanni with a goal from captain Ugolini.
Folgore also fully live up to their billing in the only indoor match of the evening. In Acquaviva, Zonzini’s team records a 10-4 victory over Tre Penne, for whom Bernardi is the most prolific scorer. The giallorossoneri captain opens his hat-trick shortly after Tre Penne concede an own goal via Benedettini. Salles, from a free-kick, gets his side back into it, but Folgore reassert their firm grip on the contest thanks to Pellegrini. Again Tre Penne respond, this time through Dominella, but Falciano’s side immediately hit back and get Bernardi on the scoresheet for the second time. After the restart he completes his personal treble. Pasqualini stretches the lead, which Tre Penne promptly cut again with Salles’ second of the night. There is another exchange of blows between Biordi and Alessandro Ercolani before Giacobbi, Michele Ercolani and Volpinari finally rub salt into the wounds of the San Marino Città outfit.
Tre Fiori protect third place by beating Domagnano 3-0, with Michele Casadei opening the scoring on 11 minutes and further goals from Toccaceli and Verri – the latter striking after the break – rounding off the win. La Fiorita also stay among the Fab Four thanks to a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Cosmos. Braces from Giuccioli and Bernardi send the Montegiardino side on their way already in the first half. After the interval, the score is completed by Bernardi’s third of the evening and a goal from Gasperoni. Still firmly attached to the business end of the table are Murata, who have little difficulty in overcoming the Pennarossa hurdle. The biancorossi break the deadlock in the 2nd minute through Podeschi, before being hit by a strong bianconeri reaction, expressed in first-half goals from Rizzo, Mattioli, Capicchioni and a Rosa own goal. El Attar’s brace and another strike from Rizzo complete the rout for Cellarosi’s men, who can thus celebrate a third win on the bounce. Virtus, by contrast, bounce back from defeat in the previous round by overcoming Faetano 5-2. The game comes to life late in the first half with an exchange of goals between Sensoli and Moroni. Sensoli puts Pollini’s side back in front midway through the second half, then personally increases the margin ten minutes later. At that point Faetano find a way back again through the same Moroni, before Pascucci and Aruci double-lock the win in Acquaviva.
As mentioned, behind Virtus it is no longer Domagnano but Juvenes-Dogana, who after their rest day claim an important win over Cailungo, albeit one that proves less straightforward than pre-match predictions might have suggested. The game starts quickly: after 3 minutes it is Chezzi who puts Roberto Levani’s men in front. Shortly afterwards Cailungo lose Vitillo to a straight red card. At the end of the first half Sabatino has the chance to level from a 10-metre free-kick, but Tommaso Cecchetti does well to keep his goal intact. On 51 minutes Cavalli makes it 2-0 and shortly after Chezzi has the opportunity to stretch the lead from another 10-metre: on this occasion it is the crossbar that denies Levani’s number 8 the joy of 3-0 and a personal brace.
