Futsal: first win for Cailungo, Virtus climb back up to third place

Tre Fiori’s spell in third place lasted just one week. Virtus return the favour to Bugli’s side by beating Tre Penne and at the same time take advantage of the defeat suffered by their direct rivals against league leaders Folgore, who remain on maximum points together with Fiorentino. The giallorossoneri open the scoring in less than 60 seconds through captain Bernardi. Tre Fiori reply quickly, equalising via the other captain on the court, Boschi. But Folgore’s response is just as swift: the 2-1 comes a few minutes later and bears Pellegrini’s signature. After the sides change ends, Bernardi gives his team a safety margin over their opponents, while the final seal on Folgore’s 10th win (in as many games) is applied by Pellegrini, who also bags a brace just like his captain and team-mate. Virtus defeat Tre Penne by the same scoreline. In Fiorentino too, it is an early goal that breaks the deadlock: Michelotti scores it, with Contato replying within seven minutes. Morganti restores Virtus’ lead at the end of the first half; after the restart, Pascucci and Pazzaglia complete a scoreline that lifts Pollini’s side back up to third place, overtaking Tre Fiori as mentioned and also pulling away from Juvenes-Dogana, who are halted after two wins on the spin. It was a much-anticipated head-to-head between the Biancorossoazzurri and Domagnano, who started separated by just a single point. That gap remains unchanged after the 2-2 draw in Acquaviva. Davide Dolcini opens the scoring on 7 minutes, with Muraro replying about ten minutes later. Before the interval Juvenes even complete the turnaround through Santi Ugolini. In the second half, Domagnano’s pressing produces Dolcini’s second of the night, vital for the Wolves to salvage a delicate contest and stay attached to the direct play-off train, which La Fiorita are also eyeing eagerly. They play San Giovanni in Thursday’s late fixture and, with a win, could significantly close the gap on the sides immediately above them in the table. The cold evening dedicated to matchday 11 – or rather, to most of its programme – also brings Cailungo’s first victory – and indeed their first points – of the league campaign. The win comes in the derby: Libertas find themselves three goals down after the opening 30 minutes, the result of a Gamba brace either side of a strike from Sabatino. The Granata reorganise after the break and manage to make up most of the deficit – Taddei and Romuald score – but not enough to get the result that would at least have seen them pick up a point after back-to-back defeats. While Cailungo try to begin a laborious climb, Cosmos are unable to build on their victory of seven days earlier. The Gialloverdi fall to Pennarossa, who immediately make amends for the defeat to Juvenes-Dogana and leapfrog both Faetano (idle this round) and Tre Penne in one go, moving to the exact middle of the table, safely away from the choppiest waters. Casadei’s Biancorossi attempt an early breakaway, going into half-time 5-1 up thanks to braces from Rosa and Gasperoni and a goal from Podeschi. Cosmos had temporarily reduced the arrears through a Conti own goal. After the restart Pennarossa add another through Ciacci, while on the Cosmos side Casadei sparks into life, but the no. 22’s brace is not enough for the Serravalle outfit to avoid a seventh defeat in the competition. On Thursday San Giovanni will have the chance to overtake them. Murata, on the other hand, remain behind Cosmos after being overwhelmed by leaders Fiorentino. It finishes 15-0: Busignani and Giacobbi shine in particular, both netting hat-tricks; there are two goals apiece for Rossini, Moretti and Ercolani, and one each for Ceccoli, Cevoli and Serra.
