Futsal: Folgore and La Fiorita battle for the first place in the final
With the first elimination – Virtus – five teams remain in the race for the Scudetto. Two of them are still unbeaten and tomorrow they will go head-to-head for the first ticket to the 3 June final. La Fiorita have played two matches so far, Folgore only one: the freshly crowned winners of the Titano Futsal Cup defeated Tre Fiori for the second time in less than a week and are now preparing to face the Montegiardino side, who have not scored heavily in their two play-off outings so far but have shown great solidity and composure from the penalty spot. Palermino’s men, in fact, have prevailed on penalties first against Domagnano and then against Fiorentino, who tomorrow will face each other in a match that will determine the second team to be knocked out of these play-offs. The most recent meeting between the reigning champions and the Lupi dates back to 5 May. On that occasion it was the latter who came out on top, condemning their opponents to elimination from the Titano Futsal Cup. Tomorrow Mussoni’s side, who on Thursday overcame and eliminated Virtus, will look to build on the performance from that quarter-final, while Michelotti’s team are looking for revenge for that match but above all for the defeat suffered against La Fiorita, the only route available to the Rossoblù if they are to avoid being forced to relinquish their crown. It will be Domagnano – Fiorentino that will get under way the Monday dedicated to the third matchday of the league play-offs. The match will be officiated by the trio of Delvecchio, Lerza and Tonelli. Folgore – La Fiorita will follow; in their two previous meetings this season (one in the cup, the other in the Intergirone phase of the league), Max Spada’s side have always emerged victorious, on both occasions hitting their opponents for five. The clash between the Giallorossoneri and the Gialloblù will be refereed by Tura, Ercolani and Tonelli. The winners go straight through to the final, while the losers will "drop into" the second semi-final.
