Futsal: Tre Fiori and La Fiorita finish 4-2 again, but this time Bugli’s side comes out on top

The all-yellow-and-blue clash that wrapped up the opening matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal ended with the same scoreline, but with the roles reversed compared to the most recent meeting between La Fiorita and Tre Fiori: 4-2. In last season’s third-place play-off, it was the Montegiardino side who prevailed by that score. This time Tre Fiori celebrated at the end of a very intense encounter, probably spurred on as well by the special setting: it was in fact the debut evening for the Acquaviva sports hall. La Fiorita struck first: from the penalty spot Franciosi beat Andreani after 9 minutes of play. Right at the end of the half Michele Casadei unleashed a shot which, with a slight deflection, beat Marchetti to restore parity. La Fiorita went back in front 7 minutes after the restart, thanks to an irresistible solo move from Giuccioli, who chose to round the onrushing Andreani before squaring for Gasperoni, who did well to find the space to score against his former club. At that point Tre Fiori’s reaction was furious, with Andreani more frequently pushed into the opposition half in an attempt to unsettle La Fiorita’s marking. But that is not how the 2-2 arrived. In the 43rd minute Andreani threw the ball out with his hands, and Filippo Burioni immediately laid it off in the middle of the area for his brother Lorenzo, who side-footed home inexorably beyond Marchetti. Filippo Burioni then took centre stage himself with the two goals that decided the contest. The first came with Andreani involved in the attacking move: a powerful right-footed strike at the near post from the number 17 and, for the first time, Tre Fiori were in front; the second was a delightful dink that rendered Marchetti’s rush off his line futile and left La Fiorita having to chase the game desperately. In the remaining quarter of an hour Gianni Galli’s side threw everything forward. On 59 minutes Esposito – another ex – “earned” himself a second yellow card, just a few minutes after the first. In added time the refereeing duo first awarded and then overturned a penalty to Montegiardino for a suspected handball in the box. It finished 4-2, and Tre Fiori joined the pack of teams who had opened their campaign with three points the previous evening.
