Futsal: Group A on court for Matchday 16
Only the Group A teams will be on court for the pre-Easter midweek round, scheduled for tomorrow evening at the Fiorentino and Dogana venues. Alongside the Ezio Conti, the match between Libertas and Fiorentino. The Rossoblù are looking to consolidate second place, hoping between now and the end of the season to capitalise on any potential slip-ups by leaders Folgore – currently hard to imagine. Libertas, ten points behind third-placed Domagnano, could still theoretically reach the play-offs, although the Wolves’ advantage is more than solid and just waiting for formal mathematical confirmation. With an eye also on second place, even if the gap to Fiorentino makes that target difficult to reach.
Mussoni’s boys will face Juvenes-Dogana in the second fixture scheduled in Fiorentino. The Serravalle club are now out of the post-season race, although Zonzini’s men are keen to honour these final league outings, useful for preparing in the best possible way for the Titano Futsal Cup play-offs, where Cecchetti and team-mates will await in the semi-finals the winners of Virtus vs Tre Fiori. At the same stage Domagnano will also be there against Fiorentino. Back to the league, the Giallorossi are just a few points away from clinching a play-off spot, and the upcoming clash is a great opportunity to move closer to their minimum seasonal objective.
Completing the picture is the top vs bottom clash between Folgore and Cailungo, who meet in Fiorentino at 20:15 tomorrow. The first year back in five-a-side competitions for the Rossoverdi has been, naturally and understandably, a difficult one, whereas the ambitious squad assembled in the summer by the Falciano club – who signed Protti and Busignani, among others – has produced nothing but wins this season. Thirteen in the league and six in the cup, across nineteen games played. A 100% winning record, with 117 goals scored and 25 conceded: a clear show of strength which – so far – seems unshakeable. Spada’s men are aiming for first place in the league regular season, a position that only the Giallorossoneri themselves look capable of putting at risk: the head-to-head with Fiorentino, six points behind, is scheduled for the third-from-last round of the championship.
