Futsal: honours even in the top-of-the-table clash
The top-of-the-table clash on Matchday 20 of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal ends with no winner. At the final whistle, Fiorentino-Folgore goes into the books as a 1-1 draw. Everything happens early on: the Rossoblù take the lead in the 4th minute through Zafferani, only to be pegged back three minutes later by Bernardi. Fiorentino’s run of only victories in the league is therefore halted, although they remain firmly at the summit, while Folgore now feel the chasing pack closing in on second place.
All of those chasing sides do indeed win, behind the San Marino runners-up. Starting with La Fiorita, who move to within three points thanks to a resounding 7-0 victory over Faetano. It is a night to remember for captain Bernardi, who scores five times. Danny Gasperoni adds a brace. Murata also stay in touch as they edge out Juvenes-Dogana at the death of an enthralling contest. Late in the first half Baldelli fires the Biancorossazzurri in front, but in stoppage time De Angelis restores parity. The match is decided in the final quarter of an hour: a penalty converted by Moretti and El Attar’s first goal of the evening put Murata two clear. Cavalli drags Juvenes-Dogana back into it, but they finally succumb to further strikes from De Angelis and El Attar.
It is an important win for the Bianconeri, also in terms of keeping Tre Fiori and Virtus at bay. The former, in action on the Multieventi court, beat San Giovanni 7-2. At halfway the Gialloblù are 2-0 up thanks to goals from Toccaceli and Verri, while Corbelli’s men waste a 10-metre free-kick through Macina. Ugolini halves the deficit on 35 minutes, but for the Rossoneri it is a flash in the pan: within ten minutes Tre Fiori strike three more times past Agostini, with a double from Lorenzo Burioni and a goal from Crescentini. The San Marino defender appears on the scoresheet again later, after team-mate Esposito and the inevitable Marco Ugolini – who makes San Giovanni’s evening slightly less bitter. Virtus also record a comprehensive victory, scoring three times in each half. In the first period, Tamburrano and a Carlini brace set the contest on the right track for Pollini’s side. Pennarossa, who concede the third while a man down after Baldani is sent off, pull one back through Brighi for a temporary 1-4. Earlier, Sensoli had also scored for the Neroverdi, who extend their lead further with efforts from Paolini and Toccaceli.
In the race for the play-offs, Tre Penne and Libertas claim important wins over Cosmos and Domagnano. The Città club run out 4-2 winners against the Gialloverdi, for whom second-half goals from Zafferani and Ceccaroli, enough to cancel out on two occasions Tre Penne’s attempted breaks via Jacopo Gamba, ultimately prove insufficient. The difference for Ghiotti’s men is made by goals from Salles and Dominella. As for Libertas, victory over Domagnano lifts the Granata ten points clear of third from bottom, effectively giving them a strong grip on a post-season berth. Penserini’s side strike once in each half through Francesco Rossi and Beinat. Domagnano draw a blank, stretching their winless streak to four games. These results also favour Cailungo: the Rossoverdi, who had a rest round, see their gap in the table to Cosmos and, above all, Pennarossa – the other two sides involved in the battle for the last two play-off places – remain unchanged.
