Futsal: Faetano snatch last-gasp win against Fiorentino

A huge win for Faetano, who in the early fixture of Matchday 6 of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal defeat Fiorentino 2-1 thanks to a goal scored virtually at the death.

The first to break the deadlock are the Gialloblu, who in the 29th minute take the lead through Taddei, going into the break one goal to the good. After the restart Fiorentino step up the pressure and in the 45th minute level the score through Alessandro Michelotti, bringing the contest back on terms. In the closing stages, with two minutes left, Fiorentino coach Antonio D’Amico is sent off, leaving his side somewhat rattled. And just when the draw looked to be in the bag, Yuri Rossi, deep into added time, finds the goal that hands victory to Faetano.

A real sting in the tail for Fiorentino, who thus end their last match without being able to call on their goalkeeper Gianluca Michelotti, suspended following the red card he picked up on Matchday 2. The Rossoblù had managed to stay in the hunt for a positive result which would have allowed them to cut the gap precisely to Faetano, before being hit by the cold shower in the very last second. In a completely different mood is Matteo Selva’s group, who with these three points move temporarily up to fifth place in the table and can now follow the rest of the round with greater calm.

Matchday 6 continues this evening with five fixtures scheduled, before drawing to a close on Wednesday night.
