Futsal: Five-star Juvenes in the derby as Cosmos suffer first defeat

The circle of unbeaten teams is getting smaller. As of yesterday, Cosmos are no longer part of it, beaten 5-2 in the derby played at the Multieventi, which closed out the programme for Matchday 6 of the futsal championship. Huge smiles for Juvenes Dogana, who leave Virtus and Tre Fiori behind and in one go leapfrog Folgore and Domagnano, climbing up to seventh place, one point behind Faetano and two adrift of Cosmos themselves. Cellarosi’s men make a lightning start: less than a minute gone and Fabbri has already broken the deadlock in the derby. The former Libertas player repeats the feat on 20 minutes, after Cecchini (10’) had given Juvenes Dogana a temporary 2-0 lead. Half-time does nothing to dampen the Biancorossoazzurri’s firepower, as they keep striking until they move into a 5-0 lead. The goals from De Angelis (43’) and Quaranta (46’) are the final nails in the coffin for Cosmos’ comeback hopes, who only manage to sketch out a reaction when it is already far too late. Serra’s own goal and Giorgetti’s finish, both in added time, have the effect of denying Juvenes what would have been their first clean sheet of the season, but do nothing to spoil the celebrations. Cosmos’ run of one draw and three straight wins comes to an end: they needed to respond to Libertas, but instead the Granata have now officially drawn level with Franchino’s side.
