Futsal: Juvenes-Dogana eye a third straight win, Virtus put to the test by Tre Penne

After claiming the biggest scalp of all – that of unbeaten Fiorentino – Juvenes-Dogana have now firmly set their sights on Virtus’ position in the table. The Neroverdi are preparing to return to action after their rest round and will take to the court before Juvenes-Dogana, who are scheduled for the Thursday late fixture against Libertas. Barring surprises, it will be anything but a relaxing Monday for Virtus, who face a Tre Penne side coming off a resounding win over Pennarossa and, more generally, having managed to take maximum points in three of their last four outings. And if Juvenes-Dogana have Virtus in their sights, the same can be said of the San Marino Città side with regard to Domagnano, who are just two points ahead. The Dogana venue will host Virtus-Tre Penne. The Acquaviva outfit will also be playing to make amends for the two straight defeats suffered before their rest week. Also in Dogana, but in the early evening, Fiorentino will be looking to immediately erase their first league defeat after twenty games always on the scoresheet, nineteen of which ended in victory. On paper it is not a prohibitive assignment for the reigning champions, who take on a Cailungo side on a three-game losing streak and still third from bottom, although by no means out of the fight for the post season. Indeed, Cosmos’ three-point cushion can hardly be called a lock, nor even a guarantee. Muccioli’s Gialloverdi in turn have to deal with a very lean spell, even longer than Cailungo’s. Their bid to bounce back – and possibly pull away – goes through an equally tricky match-up: against a Tre Fiori team riding a four-game winning streak and recently up to third place after La Fiorita’s defeat. The latter will open the evening on the Acquaviva outdoor pitch, facing a San Giovanni side that has slipped back into a losing run (two defeats) after their exploit against Pennarossa. Gianni Galli’s men will be out to wipe away their latest loss and, above all, to capitalise on Murata’s rest round – another side that has recently overtaken them. Selva will be missing through suspension. The team causing so many problems for Montegiardino in the table has been Folgore, who are chasing a fourth consecutive win at the expense of Faetano, halted immediately after their victory over San Giovanni and still level with the latter at the bottom of the standings. Giallorossonero Pellegrini will miss out after being banned by the Sports Judge. On the same green, Domagnano and Pennarossa will then face off: the former looking to build on their win over Faetano and, above all, to keep Tre Penne at a safe distance, while also hoping for a slip-up from Juvenes-Dogana to claw back ground on seventh place; the latter needing a positive result to put behind them the heavy defeat suffered against Tre Penne and to open up a safer gap over Cosmos, just two points back. The Giallorossi Wolves will be without the suspended Davide Dolcini. As mentioned, the matchday will conclude on Thursday – immediately after the first legs of the Titano Futsal Cup semi-finals – with the clash between Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas, facing off in an indoor fixture just as they did in the reverse game. Back then it was the Multieventi Sport Domus that hosted the encounter; this time it will be the Acquaviva gym. Both sides are in good shape, especially Levani’s team, fresh from their sensational win over Fiorentino. There are several suspensions in the Granata camp: Beinat, Casadei and Davide Rossi will all be absent. Roberto Levani, for his part, will be without Borasco.
