Futsal: La Fiorita target Tre Penne; Domagnano and Murata lying in wait
With the cup interlude now behind them, the fifteen futsal clubs – with the exception of Folgore – are preparing to resume league action. Tre Penne and Virtus restart from the top, buoyed by their three wins from three. Michelotti’s Neroverdi face Cosmos tomorrow, still searching for their first result of the season, in a clash scheduled for the late slot in Dogana. In the early game on the same court, Tre Penne will themselves take on another side with a perfect record, La Fiorita, driven by the desire to catch at least one of the two current leaders (having played one game fewer than both). Watching this match-up with particular interest, as they sit exactly midway between Penserini’s and Traviglia’s sides in the table, are Murata and Domagnano, both back to winning ways after drawing on Matchday 2 and intent on continuing their climb. Among the Wolves’ thoughts is also the need to react to the cruel ending of their recent cup tie: the hunt for a third league win for Gasperoni’s team goes via a tricky encounter with Tre Fiori, who have just hit a negative run of three straight defeats (cup included) and are therefore keener than ever to turn things around. This will be the only fixture of the night scheduled in Domagnano (kick-off 21:15).
Murata, meanwhile, will be in action in Fiorentino against San Giovanni, coming off a mixed week in which the “wound” of the comeback suffered at the hands of Cailungo (from 3-0 to 3-4) was followed by a tonic win over Libertas in the Futsal Cup Round of 16. It is still a tough test for Franchino’s side, the only team in the Single Group with a single point to their name and forced to do without their captain, Volpinari, sent off at the end of the first of the two derbies played during the week. Fiorentino will also host the clash between Pennarossa and Libertas, with the former looking to immediately put behind them the defeat suffered in the previous round (their first of the season) and, more generally, to rediscover a win that has been missing since Matchday 1; Palermino’s team, on the other hand, are chasing their very first success. Pennarossa will be without the suspended Cecchini. There will be two games at the Multieventi for this round of the league. Tomorrow night it is the turn of Faetano and Cailungo, opponents with completely opposite moods: the former sit bottom of the table with the worst goal difference, while the latter want to ride the wave of two consecutive comebacks that have brought Venerucci’s men four points, the same tally as Pennarossa and Folgore, who have a bye. It remains to be seen whether the slip-up in the cup has left the enthusiasm of the red-and-greens intact; they will in any case have to cope without the suspended Elia Venerucci, while on the other side El Attar will also be missing for the same reason.
In the only Wednesday late fixture, the Multieventi will host the meeting between Juvenes-Dogana and Fiorentino. The biancorossoazzurri band claimed their first win of the season at the Multieventi last Monday, before confirming themselves three days later in the cup. A real boost in confidence and self-belief, then, for Roberto Levani’s men, who will however have to face a side in at least equally good shape, and one that has just come off a rest round which made the week less “crowded” for the reigning champions. They too come into this game on the back of two straight wins in league and cup, with goalkeeper Geri once again a standout in front of goal. As with Faetano-Cailungo, kick-off will be at 21:45.
