Futsal: La Fiorita draw level with Fiorentino at the top
The opening match played in Dogana, between Libertas and Tre Fiori, went as expected on the eve with a goal glut for the Gialloblù, who ran out 7-1 winners. Bugli’s men – their coach absent yesterday – pulled away above all in the second half, with Burioni and Esposito both netting braces. Joining them on the scoresheet were Morini, Verri and Urbinati. Bacciocchi’s goal for the Granata did nothing to change the outcome. This is the third win on the spin for the side from the Castello di Fiorentino, allowing them to move to within three points of the summit, temporarily occupied by Fiorentino and La Fiorita. A bitter defeat instead for the Granata, both for the seven goals conceded and because, with San Giovanni also winning, they now slip to bottom of the table with just one point from six matches.
Next on the same court were Cailungo and Pennarossa, with the Biancorossi coming out on top 5-2. Venerucci’s team slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat and thus sink ever deeper into the lower reaches of the table. Their only bright spot of the evening was a brace from Sabatino. On the other side, it was an excellent win for the team from the Castello di Chiesanuova, carried by a superb Podeschi, who hit a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Baldani and Rosa. The victory moves Casadei’s men away from the danger zone.
The action in Fiorentino kicked off with the day’s big match between Folgore and Virtus. The game was always under the control of the side from the Castello di Serravalle: the Giallorossoneri raced into a three-goal lead – Biordi, Pelliccioni and Chezzi on target – before Morganti grabbed a late consolation for the Neroverdi in second-half stoppage time. Zonzini’s men returned to winning ways after a draw and a defeat, and this success allows them to stay alone in third place, two points off top spot. By contrast, the team from the Castello di Acquaviva suffer their second loss in a row and drop to fifth place, level on points with Murata.
After Folgore’s victory, San Giovanni and Faetano faced off on the same pitch. This match brought the first win of the season for the Rossoneri, who prevailed 3-1. Berardi, Zafferani and Giacobbi found the net before Mangano’s consolation. A victory that could reshape the ambitions of the side from the Castello di Borgo Maggiore. A tough defeat to swallow for Gualtieri’s players, who squandered an important chance to climb off the foot of the table. The Gialloblù now sit fourth from bottom on 4 points.
Tre Penne and La Fiorita opened the evening in Acquaviva. It was the most hard-fought match of the night, with the team from the Castello di Montegiardino edging it by a single goal. The Gialloblù thus rack up a sixth consecutive victory and draw level with Fiorentino at the top of the table, although they have played one more match than Michelotti’s side. Bernardi put La Fiorita ahead after 8 minutes. Gamba restored parity shortly before the quarter-hour mark. Two minutes later, a free-kick from Belloni restored the lead for Galli’s team, who extended it late on through Giuccioli. Tre Penne managed to pull one back via Benedettini but could not find an equaliser. The Biancazzurri leave empty-handed but with the awareness that they made life more than difficult for their opponents and never threw in the towel. Ghiotti’s men are now finding a consistency of convincing performances after a tricky start to the season.
Rounding off the evening at the same venue was Murata v Domagnano, which saw a clear and convincing victory for the Giallorossi, somewhat against the odds. Capone broke the deadlock on 12 minutes of the first half. Murata reacted immediately, equalising through captain Alessandro Casadei. The deadlock was broken again right at the end of the half thanks to a sharp finish from Davide Dolcini. In the second half Gasperoni’s side delivered the decisive blow with Ghiotti’s own goal and a strike from Villa. It is a second straight win for the Lupi, taking them level with Tre Penne on 9 points. It is the opposite story for Cellarosi’s men, who suffer their second consecutive defeat and are forced to lose ground on the leading positions, although these are still very much within reach.
Here are the results of the seventh matchday of the league, pending tonight’s late fixture:
