Futsal: Juvenes-Dogana set their sights on Virtus

The San Marino Futsal Championship returns tomorrow, for everyone except La Fiorita – who have a bye week. A rest round that could cost the Gialloblù fourth place, now within reach of Murata (currently two points behind), who are set to face Cailungo on the court of the Acquaviva sports hall. The fixture list seems to hint at another possible change in the standings, this time between Juvenes-Dogana and Virtus for sixth place. Juvenes-Dogana will be playing outdoors in Acquaviva against Faetano – a match in which the Biancorossazzurri are strong favourites to notch up a fourth consecutive win. Should that happen, the Neroverdi would need something special to defend their current position. In fact, Pollini’s men will have to take on leaders Fiorentino, who responded to their first defeat of the season by hitting double figures against Cailungo. That game is scheduled in Dogana at 21:45. Just beforehand, on the same court, Pennarossa and Folgore will meet. On paper this match is heavily tilted in favour of the Falciano club, who are four points off the top. At the same time in Fiorentino there will be the Borgo Maggiore derby between San Giovanni and Libertas. The Granata are chasing points to close in on ninth place, currently held by Tre Penne, a key position with a view to the post-season. The club from Città will have to face Tre Fiori, third in the table and coming off five wins from their last five outings: no one has done better than Bugli’s side over that span – although the five goals conceded against Cosmos have sounded a warning bell for the Gialloblù coach. By contrast, Cosmos are the only team not to have picked up a single point in the last five matches. Facing Fiorentino, Juvenes-Dogana and Tre Fiori certainly did not help the Gialloverdi, who will try to bounce back in Fiorentino, where they take on Domagnano from 21:45. Already certain of their place in the play-offs, the Wolves do not want to give up on the chance of reeling in Virtus and Juvenes-Dogana in this final stretch of the season, during which they will also be up against Folgore and Fiorentino. The fixtures from Matchday 25 will instead be played next week, all scheduled for 4 April after being pushed back due to the Easter break and the national team’s commitments last weekend. The Titani recorded a narrow defeat and a draw – the latter conceded 6 seconds from time – against Northern Ireland.
