Futsal: late exchange of goals between Fiorentino and Juvenes-Dogana
The closing match of the fourth round of the Campionato Sammarinese futsal was played last night on the Multieventi court, which hosted its second game in as many days in the competition. Facing off were Juvenes-Dogana and Fiorentino, both unable to build on their first wins of the season, earned in the previous round. The clash between Galli and Levani’s teams ends 1-1, with the latter forced to manage a finale in numerical inferiority after Simone Celli was sent off for a second yellow card.
The first half belongs to the goalkeepers, both decisive in keeping the opening scoreline unchanged through to the interval. Geri is quick to react to Muccioli’s set-piece after Thomas Celli’s effort had flashed just wide. The winger tries again shortly afterwards, rattling the crossbar thanks to the slightest touch from the fingertips of the Fiorentino keeper. Juvenes-Dogana’s promising start is followed by a double chance for Fiorentino: Paolo Casadei plays in Gasperoni in front of Lorenzo Cecchetti, who does brilliantly to close down the goal. At the other end, Cavalli has two attempts, but Geri again proves decisive – especially on the second, which leaves the forward stunned. No less impressive is Cecchetti’s double save: he first keeps out Bernardi’s diagonal strike, then springs back up to block Felici’s tap-in. The former Murata player is presented with a simple chance to give Fiorentino the lead at the end of the half, released by Paoloni in front of the keeper, but once more Cecchetti wins the duel, closing every gap as he comes out. A right-footed effort from Simone Celli on a corner routine, kept out by Geri’s foot, brings the first half to a close.
The goals arrive after the restart. Bernardi breaks the deadlock, punishing Cecchetti – this time not flawless – with a diagonal strike from an extremely tight angle. With fourteen minutes left on the clock, Juvenes-Dogana earn a deserved equaliser: Cavalli isolates Gasperoni on the flank and, with a toe-poke into the far corner, leaves Geri no chance. A few seconds from time, Simone Celli receives his second yellow card. The sending off does not, however, put the final 1-1 result between Juvenes-Dogana and Fiorentino at risk, with both sides eight points off the summit. It should be noted that the reigning champions have played one game fewer than leaders Virtus.
