Futsal, league: Cosmos vs San Giovanni to stay in the playoff zone

With Fiorentino resting, Folgore will look to pull away at the top – albeit only temporarily. On matchday 21 of the San Marino futsal league, which kicks off tomorrow, Max Spada’s side face Murata (20:15 in Fiorentino). The Bianconeri – currently fully in the playoff race – are coming off three straight defeats, and the Giallorossoneri are perhaps the worst possible opponents when trying to turn things around. Folgore, for their part, want all three points before their bye in the next round. Chasing the leading duo are Tre Fiori, who are looking to defend third place. Alex Bugli’s Gialloblu take on Pennarossa (Dogana, 21:45), who are coming off last week’s forfeit win against Cailungo and are sitting comfortably in eighth place. One of the standout fixtures in the upper half is undoubtedly the clash between Virtus and Juvenes-Dogana (Acquaviva, 20:15). The Neroverdi saw their good run halted in the last round with defeat at the hands of the ever-reliable Folgore but still held on to fifth place; Claudio Zonzini’s side – seventh and five points behind Virtus – have been inconsistent, and they too are coming off a setback, against La Fiorita. Between Virtus and Juvenes-Dogana, in sixth place, are Domagnano, who have won two in a row and tomorrow will face Libertas (Acquaviva, 21:45). Penserini’s Granata remain fully in the thick of the playoff battle, but they have not added to their tally since as far back as 26 January. Another key game to watch is Cosmos vs San Giovanni, with both sides chasing precious points to stay on the post-season train. The Gialloverdi are in great form, unbeaten in four (two wins and two draws) and up to ninth place; the Rossoneri, by contrast, have just one win in their last five, but are still clinging on to the playoff zone. San Giovanni will also have to watch their backs from Tre Penne, who take on bottom side Cailungo. The Biancazzurri are level on points with San Giovanni and Libertas, but the team from Città have not tasted victory since 6 December 2022. Matchday 21 concludes with Tuesday’s late game at the Multieventi between La Fiorita and Faetano (21:30). Davide Ghiotti’s side are currently fourth, thanks to three wins in their last four; Elmiro Corbelli’s team, on the other hand, sit second-bottom in the group and are coming off a heavy 7-0 defeat to Domagnano.
